THE ROLE

This position will have a lead role in updating DEP's E&S Manual. You will also provide engineering assistance to other DEP programs that require E&S and PCSM as part of their permit process. You may also be required to provide expert technical testimony for DEP litigation actions.
While the headquarters for this position is DEP's Reading District Office, the position provides an opportunity for full-time telework.

The Senior Civil Project Engineer will provide technical leadership to project teams working on the planning, evaluation, design, and implementation of civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will lead the study phase and/or design phase of projects related to the civil, environmental, and construction fields. The Senior Civil Project Engineer will regularly interact with employees outside their department, occasionally interact with clients, regularly interact with the public (agencies, government entities, etc.), and rarely participate in selling to clients. The senior civil project engineer is expected to manage assigned employees, while being an example of professional presence, representing the Company and the department in a positive light, and have expert knowledge at least two (2) engineering software packages. An Ohio Professional Engineering license is required for this role. The Senior Civil Project Engineer is expected to seal engineer reports and construction drawings as the Engineer-of-Record.
Duties & Responsibilities
Consults with and guides project stakeholders and managerial staff regarding engineering requirements for construction of various designs, and modifications.
Uses design software and drawing tools to accurately render and communicate designs; plans and designs other necessary improvements related to the type of project assigned.
Sets design specifications by determining appropriate engineering requirements (e.g. water flow rates, traffic demand, earthwork balance).
Plans projects based on the analysis of relevant materials such as drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geologic and topographical data.
