The successful candidate will be responsible for completing various small to mid-sized site development projects, focusing on creating drawings for underground drainage and piping systems using AutoCAD and a web-based design platform. While most drawings will be in 2D, the ability to conceptualize depth is crucial. Manage all day-to-day vendor communication for assigned categories, including sample tracking, fit, specs, construction, grading, pattern questions, garment changes, and delivery of complete Technical Packages Attend all weekly fittings and own fitting assigned categories on model Measure assigned category fit samples and record specs in Centric for development samples, wear tests, internal QC, competitor samples etc. Own fit comments, specs, and technical package updates in Centric; support pattern adjustments and minor construction/CAD updates following fittings Manage all sample logistics, including receiving, shipping, tracking packages, and maintaining vendor package forms Support maintaining seasonal sample organization Support ongoing Technical Design projects in partnership with the Senior Technical Designer Requirements 3+ years of Technical Design experience within apparel or product Strong technical foundation in: Garment construction Pattern development and corrections Measuring and evaluating fit samples Fit execution and garment quality standards Demonstrated ability to lead fittings and communicate technical feedback clearly and effectively. TekCom Resources is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fiber Design Technician I to join our client's growing team. This remote contract role supports the planning, documentation, and optimization of optical transport networks, ensuring all designs meet engineering standards and operational requirements. You may be located anywhere in the Southeastern United States and will work Central Time hours. The ideal candidate is analytical, eager to learn, and able to apply training quickly to produce accurate, reliable work. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills are a must. Role Overview The Fiber Design Technician I is responsible for designing fiber optic paths from the light source to the customer, utilizing both existing and new fiber infrastructure. This role supports the Outside Plant (OSP) design team and collaborates closely with splicers, engineers, and field technicians to ensure accurate and efficient fiber deployment. Key Responsibilities Design fiber routes from the central office or hub to customer premises using GIS and design tools. Assist in the design and documentation of fiber transport networks, including backbone, metro, and access systems. Prepare and maintain fiber design packages including routing of fiber cable, splice points, and construction documentation. Collaborate with splicing teams to troubleshoot discrepancies between design documentation and field conditions. Verify handhole locations, splice points, and field data to ensure design accuracy. Use client-designated tools to update network layouts, splice diagrams, and as-built documentation. Provide documentation for construction, permitting, and internal record-keeping. Follow structured training programs, design standards, and documentation procedures with precision. Adapt quickly to changing priorities and deadlines while maintaining quality and attention to detail. Required Experience & Skills 1-3 years of experience in telecom, fiber network design, or documentation (internship or academic project experience may be considered) Foundational knowledge of fiber optic aerial and buried plant design principles, including splicing. Ability to read and interpret OSP construction drawings, splice diagrams, and network records. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications for reporting and documentation. Strong troubleshooting and communication skills with the ability to coordinate across teams. Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working under tight deadlines. Associate degree or technical training in telecommunications, engineering, or related field preferred. Preferred Knowledge & Tools Experience with GIS-based design platforms (ArcGIS, 3-GIS, ArcMap, Google Earth) for mapping and route tracking. Familiarity with NetCracker, KMZ files, or other network management systems. Exposure to optical design/simulation tools (OptiSystem, OTDR analysis software, DWDM/GPON planning tools). Understanding of fiber management databases and documentation standards such as Network Manager.
