PURPOSE OF POSITION: New Student Mentors will provide direct outreach and support to incoming and first term students as well as support to currently enrolled students. Outreach will include modalities such as email and phone calls in addition to face-to-face support in the Wacheno Welcome Center. Individuals in this position will assist students with accessing the college's online systems and registering for classes. Mentors will also connect students to specific service areas (i.e. Financial Aid, Advising, and Career Center) as well as other resources available to them (i.e. Counseling, Food Pantry, etc.). Mentors may also facilitate onboarding and skill building sessions for incoming and current students. This position works in a fast-paced customer service-oriented environment and frequently communicates with students in person, via email, and on the phone. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:. * Student Support (95%) * Serve as a designated representative of the Clackamas CC student services areas. * Partner with Clackamas CC service staff to support students with getting registered and prepared to start classes. * Greet and provide assistance to students. * Help identify and clarify student needs and provide resource information and connections. * Answer questions in-person, via emails, and via phone calls to support students in getting registered and prepared for classes. * Support students in understanding basic steps to getting started at the college and help create a welcoming and inclusive space for all students to ask questions and make connections. * Connect students with service areas and schedule appointments for students. * Help students with account log-ins and accessing their accounts and other basic online functions. * Assist students with registering for classes in the online system. * Be familiar with and refer students to the different student services and resources housed in the Wacheno Welcome Center (i.e. Financial Aid, Advising, Counseling, Lab, Food Pantry, Benefits Navigator, Transportation). * Office Support (5%) * Maintain space in a clean and orderly manner. * Provide basic support for other college employees. GENERAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, other agencies, and the general public. * Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification. * Participate in college committees when requested. * Maintain proficiency by attending training and meetings, reading materials, and meeting with others in areas of responsibility, which may require travel. * Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner. * Maintain student confidentiality, data integrity, and comply with all related college, state, and federal standards, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).     Primary Purpose PURPOSE To promote the safety and well-being of the College community, utilizing established College policies and procedures while working in accordance with the Oregon DPSST Private Security Professional standards. Campus Safety provides patrol services on campus to ensure the safety and security of staff, students, and the public. Observes, reports, and safely intervenes, when appropriate, and reports criminal or illegal acts to outside partner agencies. Responds and takes appropriate action in the event of a fire or medical emergency and reports to outside partner agencies. This is an On-Call hourly pool. Ensure that buildings are secured upon departure of authorized personnel. * Provide assistance during emergencies such as medical, bomb threats, and fire; gives emergency first aid which may include CPR and use of an AED; determines if an ambulance or other medical assistance is needed and calls appropriate agency for assistance. Policy Enforcement (10% of Time) * Enforce the Student Conduct Code, College Safety and Security Policies and Procedures, and Student Housing Conduct Code in a proactive manner that educates staff, students, and the public on such policies and procedures. * Report violations of Student Conduct Code, College Safety and Security Policies, and Student Housing Conduct Code, unsafe conditions and illegal criminal acts to lead on duty and/or police agencies as appropriate. * Contact and cooperate with police and/or emergency service agencies in matters relating to the apprehension of offenders and the investigation of offenses as necessary. May conduct interviews and investigations concerning complaints, accidents, violations of student conduct code or calls for assistance to record information on thefts, physical violence, and other incidents and advises individuals on how to proceed. * Warn persons trespassing or violating college policies and established procedures. General Duties/Recordkeeping (5% of Time) * May be asked to provide money drop service, assist in department closures, and escorts individuals to their vehicles upon request. * Accurately complete patrol notebook, daily activity log and prepare handwritten or computer-generated reports for incidents occurring on campus. * Follow safety procedures, follow all building codes and maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner. * Collect and process lost and found items. The Aquatic Center is open from 5:30AM-9:00PM Job Summary Ensures patron safety, and performs patron surveillance; responds quickly and renders aid in an emergency. Completes reports and required record keeping. Performs minor facility maintenance and custodial tasks. Promotes and cultivates an environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion, and engages in evidence-based decision-making, while supporting the mission, goals, and values of the department and college. Essential Duties * Enforces pool regulations and educates patrons about pool rules and water safety. Prevents accidents in or around the water through constant and effective patron surveillance. * Recognizes emergencies and performs aquatic emergency rescues and first aid when necessary and in accordance with American Red Cross guidelines. * Provides excellent internal and external customer service and respectfully engages with all patrons and staff at the aquatic center. * Ensures pools, decks, changing areas, and staff areas of the aquatic center are kept clean and orderly. * Completes required forms and documentation of day-to-day functions and safety checks within the aquatic center. * Completes chemical checks of pool water. Assists with other basic maintenance tasks as needed. * Attends required in-service trainings. Additional Duties * Performs all other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications * Must be at least 16 years of age * American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. Must be maintained throughout employment * Commitment to embracing and advancing access and diversity Preferred Qualifications * Experience working at an aquatic facility * Experience as an aquatic athlete Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with participants, parents, staff and supervisor(s) * Ability to react quickly and effectively in emergencies and activates the facility's Emergency Action Plan * Knowledge of and ability to understand water safety best practices at a commercial facility, including the role and duties of a professional lifeguard * Ability to maintain full and complete attention to patron surveillance while on duty * Ability to problem-solve and seek assistance when needed Working Conditions Physical Requirements Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously, tread water for two minutes, and swim 20 yards to retrieve a 10-pound object off the bottom of the largest pools at any time; must have sufficient physical fitness and swimming ability to reach a patron within 30 seconds within the zone of coverage, which may be over 30 yards from guard station; must be able to deliver emergency equipment poolside (automated external defibrillator, bag-vale masks, backboard) within 30 seconds of emergency notification; must be able to move equipment reels on deck and move equipment into and out of the pools. Environment Works variable schedule and exhibits regular and predictable attendance. Work may be performed in an office and recreation facility. Work may be performed in an outdoor or indoor facility during variable weather conditions. Salary Placement Initial salary placement will be within the posted range or pay rate of the position, and is based on applicable education and/or years of relevant full-time equivalent experience at the sole discretion of the College and in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
