Duties and Responsibilities:
As a BPA, you will be part of our 60,000+ workforce that strives to protect the American people by safeguarding our borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing the nation's economic prosperity. Being a BPA makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) profession.
Typical assignments include:
· Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
· Preventing and apprehending aliens and smugglers of aliens at or near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions to include using infrared scopes during night operations.
· Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband.
· Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
· Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using a variety of government assets such as vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft, off-road vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and motorcycles for the accomplishment of the USBP Mission.
Qualifications:
GL-9: You qualify for the GL-9 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
· Performing physical searches of detained individuals, their vehicles, and their immediate surroundings for weapons, contraband, currency, and other evidence.
· Apprehending, physically restraining, or working with law enforcement officials to identify or apprehend violators of state, federal, or immigration laws.
· Proficient in the use of firearms, preparing investigative reports, serving court orders (e.g., warrants, subpoenas, etc.), and gathering evidence for criminal cases prosecuted through the court system.
If you have previous or current law enforcement or military law enforcement experience, you may qualify at the GS-11 grade level.
GS-11: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, with the authority granted by the state or government to enforce laws, make arrests, and investigate crimes, performing primary duties in an official law enforcement capacity such as:
· Utilizing intelligence information to track illegal operations, criminal activity, threats to our nation, and/or contraband while serving as a state, federal, or military law enforcement official.
· Leading investigations of fraud, contraband, criminal activity, threats to our nation, and/or illegal operations to determine sources and patterns while serving as a state, federal, or military law enforcement official.
· Apprehending violators of state, federal, or immigration laws by utilizing various forms of complex technology that include surveillance, detection, situation awareness systems, and/or communications equipment.
The above experience will be applied in connection with the following: Make arrests and exercise sound judgment in the use of firearms; deal effectively with people in a courteous manner in connection with law enforcement matters; analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions; or develop and maintain contact with a network of informants.
There are no education substitutions for the GL-9 or GS-11 grade-level Border Patrol Agent opportunities.

Residency: You must have had primary U.S. residency (including protectorates as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years.
Age Restriction: In accordance with Public Law 100-238, this position is covered under law enforcement retirement provisions. Candidates must be referred for selection to the Border Patrol Agent position before reaching their 40th birthday in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Directive 251-03. The age restriction may not apply if you are currently serving or have previously served in a federal civilian law enforcement (non-military) position covered by Title 5 U.S.C. 8336(c) or Title 5 U.S.C. 8412(d).
Veterans' Preference: You may also be eligible for an excepted service Veterans' Recruitment Appointment (VRA). The age restriction does not apply if you are Veterans' Preference eligible.
Formal Training: After you are hired, you will be detailed to the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, New Mexico, for approximately six (6) months of intensive instruction in immigration and nationality laws, law enforcement, and USBP-specific operations, driver training, physical techniques, firearms, and other courses. Border Patrol work requires the ability to speak and read Spanish, as well as English. Border Patrol Agents will be provided training to become proficient in the Spanish language at the Academy.

First Baptist Church of Parishville is located in northern NY state about 30 miles from the Saint Lawrence River. The church was established in 1820. We are an independent, fundamental, missions-minded church. We are a congregational form of government with the deacons given authority to take care of the daily responsibilities, however all major decisions are given to the membership for approval. We use the King James Bible for preaching and teaching in the church to eliminate any and all confusion, however we do not dictate to individual members or congregants what bible version to use in their homes. We use a hymnal in our worship service although augmented with some choruses and acoustic type God honoring music. The bible is our guide for faith and practice, however we have a covenant and constitution as well which we will include for you. The bible will always take precedence over the constitution.
The Community
Parishville is a very rural town with population of just over 2,000. There is one gas and convenience store and no stoplights. Groceries and Walmart are ten miles away. There are four universities within 15-20 miles of the church. We have a baptistry but most prefer to use the St. Regis river out the back door of the church. It is a picturesque and sparsely populated area.
We are looking for a candidate that is comfortable in a country type environment, has a servant's heart, willing and able to lead the flock, lead by example the outreach and evangelism of our community.

Interventionist - St Lawrence County

Summary/Objective:
To help maintain the child/youth in the home, school, and community, the Home Based Crisis Intervention (HBCI) team delivers intensive crisis intervention to children and families within Jefferson County. The HBCI Program aims to serve children/youth ages 5 to 20 years at imminent risk of psychiatric hospitalization or admission to a group treatment program, or at risk for a rapid readmit to such settings.
Under the supervision of the HBCI Clinical Supervisor, the HBCI Interventionist responds to referrals and provides treatment to address the clinical and complex needs of the child/youth and their family/caregivers. In addition to providing direct crisis intervention and stabilization, the Interventionist provides case management services linking the family with additional short and long-term available services.
Essential Functions:
The major responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
Respond to each referral within 48-hours.
Meet with each youth and family/guardian to discuss program options, service provision, and alternative service options.
Conduct all admission paperwork and ensure all necessary consents/releases are signed.
Collaborate with already established providers such as care managers, therapists, and psychiatric providers.
Provide intensive crisis intervention and supportive counseling to the youth and family.
Participate in team meetings.
Work with community agencies, organizations, and systems for long-term planning and support of the youth and families served.
Make referrals to mental health services and other programs as needed.
Provide thorough documentation regarding all case related activities including but not limited to; face to face contacts, phone calls, case conferences, clinical interventions, noted incidents, etc.
Represent CHJC as a liaison with various private as well as public service providers and resource agencies.
Complete all CHJC and New York State mandated reports and forms in a timely fashion.
Continuously promotes the program and provides community education.
Participates in an after hours on-call rotation.
Other duties as assigned or requested.
Special Requirements:
Work Environment: Office environment will require occasional travel to recruitment events, local schools, conferences and/or meetings and moderate travel within the community to include off-site/in-home visits. May have contact with service recipients that are agitated and/or are in crisis. Some risk involved working with service recipients with mental illness. Works in an office setting with a controlled temperature environment. Occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions may occur depending upon assignments.
Equipment: This position is required to maintain a working knowledge of related office equipment including personal computers and printers, audio-visual equipment, telephone systems, copiers, fax machines, etc.
Physical Demands: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, push/pull, climb, bend, and stoop. Must be able to perform fine motor skills, read, and type. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Full-time, traditional hours and non-traditional hours. This position is required to work on-site, and offsite/in home visits. This position will be in the on-call rotation.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field, with at least two years relevant experience in community-based mental health or case management is required. As this program is seeking applicants possessing a Master's Degree in a clinical field (i.e., Mental Health Counseling or Social Work), those possessing a Master's Degree and/or those as licensed clinicians will receive preference.

Strong organizational abilities and office skills are essential for this position. This person must also have excellent people skills and be a team player. Ability to work with diverse populations. Must demonstrate effective and excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others. Must be detail-oriented and possess excellent time-management skills.
