Job Description
Job Title: Operator
Department: Manufacturing
Position Description: Responsible for working on the manufacturing floor involved in the production, assembly, inspection, and reporting of manufactured products.
Primary Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Review Operator Work/Packaging Instructions.
- Review Boundary samples.
- Review First piece samples, and trim samples as required.
- Review/understand Roadmap.
- Ensure product container is clean, free of old labels, and verify correct labels are applied.
- Operate manufacturing equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Maintain Plant cleanliness and organization.
- Perform trimming, de-gating, and assembly/decorating operations as defined.
- Inspect and verify part quality.
- Perform quality checks at required intervals and document.
- Collect and record daily production.
- At start/end of shift, communicate with prior/next shift any process or product issues.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Work requires timely reaction/escalation to safety or quality issues.
- Grind and/or dispose of scrap, as directed.
- Participate, as needed, in internal problem solving/improvement activities.
- Read, interpret, and apply logic to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of associates.
- Other duties as assigned by supervision.
Other Requirements:
- All employees are responsible for complying with the safety policies and procedures.
- Must complete training requirements for the position, as outlined in training matrix.
- Lifting shoulder high up to 40 lbs. repetitively.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Working in a non-climate-controlled environment.
- Work requires repetitive motion activities including but not limited to box cutting, standing, lifting, pushing/pulling, bending, and loading/unloading.
- Perform basic math functions - addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Able to support overtime during week or weekends.

Complete verification of training for operators

Assist in resolving quality related issues on shift with shift chargehand (screening of product / decision on product). Ensure issues are documented correctly.
Maintain Product Specification Manuals, drawings and any additional paperwork within the Quality System to ensure it is up to date.
Ensure all relevant quality paperwork is made available to production in a presentable and lean format.
Control and monitoring of Suppliers (NCMR generation and control etc) ensuring any quality issues with supplied product is dealt with in a closed loop system i.e. receiving inspection.

Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)
Own and drive the site EHS strategy, policies, procedures, and performance to achieve world-class safety standards and ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 certification (or equivalent).
Lead risk assessments (JHA, PHA, machine guarding, LOTO, confined space, hot work, ergonomics, chemical handling, etc.) specific to injection molding, blow molding, robotics, extrusion, and auxiliary processes.
Carry out regular audits to ensure high standards of performance are maintained in accordance with contract requirements and company policy.
Manage all OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulatory compliance (air permits, storm water, hazardous waste, SPCC, EPCRA Tier II & Form R, wastewater, etc.) and own/drive sustainability initiatives.
Validate new equipment, machines, and workstations for regulatory and company safety standards.
Chair the Safety Committee and drive employee engagement through behavioral-based safety observations, safety talks, and near-miss reporting.
Lead incident investigations using root-cause analysis tools and ensure corrective/preventive actions are implemented and sustained.
Develop and deliver EHS training (new hire orientation, LOTO, forklift, crane, hazardous materials, emergency response, contractor training, etc.).
Maintain OSHA 300 log, track leading and lagging indicators, and drive year-over-year reduction in TRIR and DART rates.
Coordinate industrial hygiene monitoring (noise, dust, fumes).

Manage contractor(s) responsible for grounds maintenance, building repairs, fire and alarm systems and HVAC systems. Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs with associated contractors.
Oversee service contracts (waste removal, pest control, security, janitorial, landscaping, fire systems, etc.).
Ensure compliance with building codes, fire codes, and insurance requirements.
Control spending and identify cost-saving opportunities (energy, water, waste).
General
Act as the primary contact for regulatory inspections, insurance audits, and corporate audits.
Prepare and present monthly EHS and facilities performance reports to senior leadership.

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field. Related experience may be considered.
4+ years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing environment (plastics, injection molding, blow molding, or automotive tier supplier experience strongly preferred).
In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state regulations.
Proven track record of reducing recordable injury rates
Experience managing hazardous waste, air permits, and wastewater in a manufacturing setting.
Formal certifications: CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent strongly preferred.
Hands-on facilities maintenance/project management experience (HVAC, electrical distribution, building automation, etc.).
Strong leadership skills with experience supervising direct report(s) and cross-functional teams.
Excellent communication, training, and influencing skills at all levels of the organization.
Preferred
Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
Familiarity with ISO 50001 and sustainability initiatives.

The team-member is frequently required to perform rigorous physical labor; sit; climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.); or balance; and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl. Team-members frequently lift or move up to or in-excess of 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, team-members may frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Team-members are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Powerline construction work is performed outside and is subject to diverse weather conditions.
General Expectations
Able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License permit within 60 days of employment.

Able to travel long distances on short notice, when required.
Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.

Functions to be Expected in Overhead Powerline Construction
Works safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead work.
Properly inspects rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Understands when to wear personal protective equipment.
Strings overhead wire.
Sets poles and anchors.
Assists with installing transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, cross-arms, insulators, switches and switchgear.
Assists in replacing fuses in transformers and clears faulted circuits and systems.
Frequently works with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others.
Maintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
Able to perform rigorous physical labor.
Understands proper use of company radio.
Understand basic rigging, hand lines, and lineman knot tying.
Understand the proper use and maintenance of hand tools.
Capable of receiving and following directions.
Possess a basic knowledge of materials used in line work.
Able to identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit.
Must be familiar with induced voltage.
Capable of assisting with the installation and hook up of a single-phase transformer.
Capable of performing basic bucket rescue/escape.
Understands the basic concepts of equipment set up and grounding.
Capable of working at heights and/or confined spaces.
Understands minimum approach distance.
Understands excavation and shoring requirements.
Capable of checking voltage on transformers.
Capable of installing and removing a service.
Must be able to climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possess the necessary tools to do so.
Understands how and when to use Kellum grips.
Able to identify different types of materials used in line work.
Must be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather.
