The Assistant Superintendent coordinates field operations for specific areas and/or specific self-performed and subcontracted trades on a project. Assistant Superintendents ensure that construction work is completed according to a project's planned sequence and schedule, and implement and enforce pertinent safety and quality control procedures.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate installation of work in accordance with the contract documents, project schedule and the planned sequence of work. Be aware of project milestone dates and the requirements to achieve them
* Have thorough knowledge of the Contract Documents and the scope of work for the specific area(s) or trade(s) assigned
* Develop an understanding of the duration of each activity
* Apply knowledge of equipment capability and develop plans for optimum utilization
* Know the scheduled delivery dates for all material and equipment that have a direct effect on the area(s)/trade(s) assigned
* Supervise field work force to assure that all work is put in place in the most cost effective manner. Know the budgets for work that is being supervised. Determine causes and develop remedies when costs are not in line with budget, estimate, and/or reasonable expectations
* Implement the safety program. Conduct regular, scheduled and unscheduled, safety inspections to assure all working conditions and work habits are in compliance with company and government standards. Take remedial action when required. Establish a procedure for hazard recognition at the beginning of every new activity. Be thoroughly knowledgeable of all of the company's safety standards, manuals, and procedures
* Maintain good working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
* Proactively identify and develop relationships with industry professionals to generate and win the right work

Basic Qualifications
* Undergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or a related discipline preferred but not required
* 3 to 6+ years of experience working on construction projects in a field role
* Heavy civil construction experience required with an emphasis on self-perform work and concrete construction highly preferred.
* Demonstrated ability to direct the work of others including subcontractors and suppliers
* Working knowledge of the construction process including scheduling, contract administration, equipment, manpower, etc
* Well versed in safety and government regulations (eg ,OSHA) with success in implementation on a job site

As a Senior Safety Manager, you will ensure the safety of employees, trade partners, and the general public on our world-class projects. The Senior Safety Manager is responsible for creating a culture of care while enforcing Clark's Safety and Health Policy, as well as, local and federal safety standards on jobsites. This role leads employee safety education in partnership with project supervisors to develop safe work plans for all phases and tasks. To us, no project is successful unless it is built safely.
Responsibilities
● Drive the Clark safety culture on a project.
● Oversee and ensure the safety of employees, trade partners, and the general public.
● Enforce corporate and project-specific safety and health programs as well as federal, state, and local safety standards.
● Manage and mentor a staff as well as client expectations effectively.
● Identify known or potential exposures and recommend corrective action.
● Develop, coordinate, and implement overall project-specific safety programs.
● Partner with field supervision to ensure safety hazard mitigation measures are included in the planning of project construction activities.
● Develop project-specific safety education for jobsite personnel, including subcontractors, based upon upcoming work activities or recent at-risk trends.
● Drive and create a safety vision and align with the team to deliver and achieve a safe workplace for everyone.
● Facilitate third-party safety reviews, including OSHA.
● Understand workers' compensation and lead efforts in managing claims.
● Utilize experience to proactively mitigate upcoming safety challenges.
● Proactively identify and develop relationships with industry professionals to generate and win the right work.

Basic Qualifications
● 10 years of relevant construction safety experience with an undergraduate degree in safety and health (or related discipline) or demonstrated construction safety and trade experience.
● Ability to communicate and influence supervisors, peers, and external partners.
● Ability to manage large-scale, high-profile projects or multiple projects.
● Proof of training and experience in managing crane, fall protection, excavation, scaffolds, and heavy equipment safely.
● Exposure to preconstruction efforts.
● Ability to communicate effectively with, persuade, and gain buy-in from a broad range of stakeholders, from a new craft worker to a senior executive leader.
● Strength in managing multiple competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment. ● Agile, energetic, data driven approach to achieving individual and organizational objectives while balancing short term and long term goals.

The Physical Side of the Role: This is an active, hands-on role. You can expect to be on your feet frequently, navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists. The work is physically demanding and requires a full range of motion, including bending, kneeling, and reaching. You'll need to be comfortable frequently lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. This role requires the ability to communicate effectively, as well as visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work. The role does include desk time in the office that may require prolonged periods of sitting for tasks like computer work, document review, and meetings.
Your Work Environment: You'll spend a significant amount of your time on active construction sites, which means being adaptable to all kinds of weather and moderate to loud noise levels, and comfortable in elevated or confined work areas with moving mechanical equipment and with the fast-paced nature of a project in progress. You will also spend time in a typical office setting with moderate noise levels. Your safety is our top priority, and you'll be expected to follow Clark Construction's safety policies and procedures, and all applicable laws, at all locations.
