Some places are better than others when it comes to starting a career as a classroom assistant. The best states for people in this position are Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Delaware, and New York. Classroom assistants make the most in Massachusetts with an average salary of $34,202. Whereas in Rhode Island and Delaware, they would average $34,079 and $31,908, respectively. While classroom assistants would only make an average of $31,206 in New York, you would still make more there than in the rest of the country.
