As our Cleaning Technician, you will help the Facility Team in creating a clean and presentable environment for our Staff, Patrons, and Clients that occupy the building daily. Every day you will coordinate with the Lead Custodian to prioritize and accomplish cleaning tasks in and around the building, such as lobby spaces, bathroom, offices, and theatre spaces. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES (including but not limited to) 1.0 Custodial Services Provides cleaning and janitorial services for the PAC's performance spaces, lobbies, bathrooms, dressing rooms, offices and other spaces to maintain a clean attractive environment for patrons and others. 1.1 Cleans all public spaces including, but not limited to, performance spaces, concession areas, restrooms and lobbies 1.2 Cleans administrative offices and patron lounge 1.3 Cleans assigned backstage areas including dressing rooms, restrooms, basement locations, stairwells, elevators 1.4 Removes trash, vacuums or mops floor surfaces 1.5 Dusts/cleans and disinfects surfaces and fixtures, including all specified wall surfaces 1.6 Cleans mirrors and glass surfaces, including windows (inside/outside) 1.7 Replenishes supplies 1.8 Periodically buffs tile in lobbies, backstage floors, cleans light fixtures, moves equipment between departments, cleans equipment, delivers messages 1.9 Works as on-duty custodial for assigned public performances POSITION SPECIFICATIONS: High school graduation or GED desired. The work to be completed is broad in scope and varies depending on many different factors.The duties will include cleaning rooms and carpet cleaning in the residential housing complex. The successful candidate will have extensive commercial custodial knowledge and experience, experience with commercial janitorial motorized machines such as floor scrubbers, buffers and carpet cleaning machines to include high pressure and truck mounted extractors. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong aptitude for problem-solving. The unassigned custodian reports needed repairs and monitors the building for safety while also securing the building at the end of the day. This position is not assigned to a single location but travels between locations as needed. The position has a retirement association with the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). Job Requirements The following are required: * A high school diploma or equivalent. Two years of related work experience may be considered in lieu of the education requirement. * Some experience related to custodial work. * Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). * Must be able to work any shift, including the morning shift beginning at 6:30 am, the evening shift beginning at 12:30 pm, or the night shift beginning at 3:30 pm. * A current Alaska driver's license. * Must be able to travel to any location within the Anchorage School District as needed, from Girdwood School to Mirror Lake Middle School and any in between. * Must have reliable transportation to get to and from work, as well as be able to travel between locations during a single shift, as necessary. * Must have the ability to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 pounds. * The Anchorage School District requires that the selected applicant for this position be given a conditional offer of employment contingent upon successfully passing a post offer/pre-employment physical capacities assessment. Essential Job Functions * Sweeps vacuums, mops, scrubs, and refinishes (to include waxing) floor surfaces. * Dusts, washes, and waxes furniture and fixtures. * Cleans restroom toilet bowls, sinks, walls, etc. * Assists in securing the facility before exiting, including turning out lights and locking doors and windows. * Watches the building to prevent vandalism or damage by persons authorized or unauthorized to be in the facility or on the grounds. * Reports the need for repairs to facility fixtures or custodial equipment to proper authorities for necessary repairs. * Operates electrical custodial equipment safely and effectively and cleans this equipment after use. * Safely and effectively works with different chemicals such as detergents, disinfectants, and sanitizers. * Shampoos carpeting by various methods such as bonnet, encapsulation, steam, etc. Spot cleans carpets as necessary. * Performs heavy lifting while moving equipment, chemicals, furniture, etc., as necessary. * Maintains school grounds by removing paper, cans, and other trash from the school grounds on a daily basis. * Clears building sidewalks by sweeping and/or removing snow for activities/evening access. Clears a path to dumpster for safety of trash removal as needed. Physical /Mental Demands The physical demands of this job require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking and hearing. Specific visual abilities are also required. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs.
