Job Summary This position involves manual custodial work in maintaining the Institution's buildings and facilities, including the duties of a Custodian I and additional responsibilities of a Custodian II. Duties include sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping, high and low dusting, and using small custodial equipment like vacuums, scrubbers, and more. Employees are responsible for cleaning windows, walls, furniture, and various building areas such as classrooms, offices, and restrooms, as well as handling trash, recyclable waste, and supplies. Custodian II employees also perform floor care with specialized equipment, such as carpet cleaning, floor stripping, and waxing, while ensuring safe equipment operation and maintenance. Responsibilities Custodial Maintenance & General Cleaning - 35 * Daily cleaning of restrooms and restroom fixtures. * Cleaning of classrooms, hallways, stairwells, and floor mats on a scheduled basis (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly). * Wash windows, walls, trash cans, glass, and doors, both at height and with appropriate equipment for elevated areas. * Clean wall fixtures such as lights, fire alarms, fire extinguishers, drinking fountains, signage, ceiling fans, window ledges, doorknobs, and kick plates. * Collect and remove trash and recyclables, maintaining cleanliness in laboratories, offices, classrooms, clinics, recreational facilities, and other assigned work areas. Floor Care & Equipment Operation - 25 * Perform floor care with specialized equipment: carpet cleaning, extraction, stripping, waxing, burnishing, and refinishing wood floors. * Responsible for the safe operation of assigned equipment, including operator-level maintenance. * Sweep, dust, wash, mop, and vacuum floors as needed to maintain cleanliness across campus. * Perform light floor maintenance and ensure floors are in good condition. * Ensure proper handling and storage of cleaning equipment to prevent damage or hazards. Facility Upkeep & Furniture Handling - 15 * Clean and maintain facility signage, ceiling fans, doorknobs, and other high-level fixtures. * Move office and dormitory furniture and equipment as required. * Ensure furniture and equipment are properly cleaned, disinfected, and organized. * Maintain cleanliness in all common areas, including break rooms and corridors. * Respond to special requests for furniture movement or cleaning tasks as needed. Restroom & Supply Management - 15 * Clean, disinfect, and restock restrooms with necessary supplies. * Ensure the janitorial closet is well-stocked with cleaning materials. * Monitor restroom supplies and promptly report shortages or needs to supervisors. * Maintain hygiene standards in restrooms and other public areas. * Assist with cleaning and maintaining restroom equipment, such as dispensers and sinks. Outdoor & Facility Maintenance - 5 * Sweep outdoor areas, including porches, walks, and stairways attached to the facility. * Report any damaged structures, equipment, or maintenance issues to the supervisor. Other - 5 * Performing specialized disinfection and bodily fluid clean-up when required. * Participating in seasonal or one-time deep cleaning tasks. * Adapting to changes in work assignments based on institutional needs. * Assisting with miscellaneous duties across departments as requested Required Qualifications Educational Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Other Required Qualifications Valid Driver's License Required Experience * The candidate should have a consistent work history with at least one year of experience in the cleaning industry. * Proficient in basic cleaning tasks as well as advanced floor care, including buffing, stripping, waxing, and carpet cleaning. KNOWLEDGE * Some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment. SKILLS * Skilled in exercising care when using cleaning materials on different building surfaces and understanding associated risks.
