The Custodian is responsible for cleaning the building interiors of Smith County in order to provide a safe, clean and sanitary environment for staff and the public. * Clean, dust, wipe furniture; sweep, mop or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; empty and clean cigarette receptacles.
* Uses and maintains auto scrubbers, extractors, high speed power washers, buffers, vacuums, brooms, mops and squeegees while cleaning and providing general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
* Wash accessible interior/exterior windows and clean blinds.
* Cleans stairways and elevators using a variety of heavy equipment.
* Cleans upper walls using high-reach poles.
* Cleans and disinfects restrooms.
* Request supplies in a timely manner to maintain supply rooms and replace paper goods and other disposable supplies.
* Remove garbage from assigned areas and place it in a dumpster.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
* Safely and properly, operate a buffer while stripping and waxing floors.
* Must be able to effectively use/wear required safety equipment such as eye protection, masks, respirators, gloves, etc.
* Follow written and verbal instructions.
* Comply with detailed label precautions.

* High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
* Previous custodial experience is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
* Must currently possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver License.
