Cleaver-Brooks company history timeline

1929

1929 - John Cleaver finally hit on the right combination of burner and boiler, leading to the formation of the John C. Cleaver Company; sold one unit.

1931

1931 - Business boomed; 40 tank car heaters were built and sold.

1932

1932 - Cleaver-Brooks enlists 30 sales representatives to market the new firetube boiler.

1939

1939 - Started fabricating its own units.

1943

1943 - Army/Navy recognized Cleaver-Brooks for outstanding performance.

1946

1946 - Cleaver-Brooks acquires the Sanmeyer Burner Company of Chicago and starts up the C-B Burner operation.

1953

1953 - Cleaver-Brooks management team is formed.

1956

1956 - Opens new highly automated plant in Lebanon, Pa.

1958

1958 - Stratford, Ontario manufacturing facility opens.

1962

1962 - Cleaver-Brooks incorporates in Mexico.

1964

1964 - Cleaver-Brooks merged into Aqua-Chem as a division.

1967

1967 - Opened manufacturing plant in Greenville, Miss., producing industrial and commercial watertube boilers, deaerators and feed systems.

1970

1970 - Cleaver-Brooks merges with the Coca-Cola Company.

1971

1971 - Introduces the Model 4 commercial/industrial watertube boiler from 35 to 150 HP, steam and hot water, burning gas and #2 oil.

1979

1979 - John C. Cleaver passes.

1980

1980 - The Coca-Cola Company sold Aqua-Chem to a French company.

1988

1988 - Coates electric boiler is purchased and adds to Cleaver-Brooks packaged boiler capabilities.

1989

1989 - Cleaver-Brooks introduces a technologically advanced control and communication package for the boiler room called the CB-HAWK.

1992

1992 - Purchased Industrial Boiler Company in Thomasville, Ga.

1995

1995 - Cleaver-Brooks sets the standard for low NOx technology with the CBLE (low emission) boiler.

1998

1998 - Purchased National Dynamics (Nebraska Boiler and ERI).

2001

2001 - Natcom was purchased in Montreal, Quebec.

2002

2002 - Introduced the C-B Hawk ICS Boiler Room Management Control System.

2006

2006 - Cleaver-Brooks sold the Water Technologies division, along with the Aqua-Chem name and reincorporated as Cleaver-Brooks, Inc.

2010

2010 - Cleaver-Brooks introduced its steam-ready Nebraska D series, significantly reducing the drawing-to-installation timeframe of an integrated D-type industrial watertube system.

2011

2011 - The company launched the CBEX, an integrated firetube boiler system with cutting-edge EX technology that sets a new standard for compact, high-efficiency design.

2011 - Purchased Cheminee Lining in Terrebonne, Quebec.

2020

2020 - Cleaver-Brooks launches Prometha® IoT-Connected Boiler Solutions.
