The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms for upcoming examinations. **Essential Functions:** + Provides excellent customer service skills by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner + Prepares & reviews patient charts for upcoming visits by verifying that all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up to date + Measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height + Performs departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stock supplies, track referrals, and answer phones as needed + Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly + Other duties as assigned **Education:** + High School Degree or GED **Licensure/Certification:** Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required): + Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); American Association of Medical Assisting, Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); American Medical Technologists, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); National Healthcareer Association (NHA); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA); National Association for Health Professionals, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) + If incumbent is unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable (not accepted in the state of South Carolina) BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH) **Experience:** + One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required) + Two years of clerical experience in a physician's office (preferred, not required) **Skills & Abilities:** + Possesses problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills + Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner As a Bon Secours Mercy Health associate, you're part of a Mission that matters.
