About the role
As a Production Specialist, you will be overseeing and managing our production processes, including assembly, quality assurance, and fulfillment of orders.. You will work closely with the engineering teams, leveraging various production techniques to ensure seamless operations. Your role will also encompass managing the production schedule, order fulfilment, inventory and supplier relationships.
This position reports directly to the CTO and requires full-time presence at our Boston, MA office, five days a week.
What you'll do
Assembly and Repair: Build and test production systems and sub-assemblies with a focus on repeatable, high-quality assembly processes. Troubleshoot and repair production units to ensure they meet performance and quality standards
Production Planning and Scheduling: Develop and manage production schedules to meet project deadlines and customer demands.
Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the engineering team to ensure seamless production processes. Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to keep them informed of production status and any issues. Interface with vendors and external manufacturers to ensure delivery timelines and part quality.
Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure product meets specified high quality standards. Conduct thorough inspections and tests to identify and resolve any quality issues.
Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Address and resolve production issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain productivity. Analyze production data to identify trends and implement corrective actions. Use tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, or multimeters to troubleshoot PCBs and embedded systems.
Production Floor Management: Ensure the production floor space is well-maintained and organized, including the upkeep of 3D printers and various tools and machines.
Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure the availability of necessary materials and components. Coordinate with suppliers to order parts and materials as needed. Manage incoming and outgoing shipments, including receiving parts, inspecting deliveries, and preparing outgoing hardware for customers or contractors.
Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and reduce costs. Use lean manufacturing principles and other methodologies to optimize production processes. Provide real-time feedback to mechanical/electrical design teams to ensure assemblies are production-friendly and serviceable.
Customer Support: Provide exceptional technical support to customers by diagnosing, repairing, and resolving hardware issues. Collaborate with the team to address and resolve customer concerns related to production.
Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, processes, and assembly documentation, including schedules, inventory levels, and quality control measures. Prepare and present production reports to senior management.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all production activities comply with safety regulations and company policies. Promote a safe working environment by conducting regular safety audits and training sessions.

Performs other administrative duties such as conducting performance appraisals, completing disciplinary forms, accident and equipment damage reports, approval of timesheets, and documentation of attendance and tardiness.
Creates work requests through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Maintains an accurate log of facility operations, activities, and events.
Makes frequent rounds of the facility to ensure proper operation of equipment, materials storage and handling, facility security, cleanliness, safety, and environmental compliance.
Serves as the Plant Manager's representative during periods when upper management is off-site.
Writes reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals as required or directed by facility operations
Decisively and effectively directs personnel during all situations.
Completes the Corporate and Plant Training Programs within the time frame prescribed.
Responsible for maintaining acceptable plant morale.
Fosters and promotes a culture of teamwork between operational staff and all other plant staff.
Ensures that the facility and all personnel operate safely at all times and promotes an environment whereby safety is a priority.
Reads, understands, and applies information such as, lockout/tagout procedures, safety rules, job hazard analyses, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Communicates clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; as well as communicates clearly whether using in-situ intercom system, two-way radio, or face to face.
Anticipates typical problems, identifies potential or recurring problems, and takes appropriate action. Troubleshoot equipment and assists in diagnosing problem areas.
Operates other equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment.
Thoroughly and promptly investigates any accidents or near misses in conjunction with management team to ensure that any unsafe practices or conditions are addressed and eliminated immediately.

Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED (accredited)
Bachelor's degree, Associate degree or equivalent is desirable
Two years working in a power plant environment as PO or comparable position, or 5 years related experience which includes training in a power plant environment.
Skills, experience, and knowledge sufficient to acquire ASME QRO Provisional license. (ASME: American Society of Mechanical Engineers)
For all Massachusetts facility's, a 2nd Class Engineers license is required.
Math skills sufficient to complete required job functions
Knowledge and understanding of the operation and control of a steam generating power plant
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Working knowledge of PC operations.
Must be able to work overtime, odd and unscheduled hours as required and share on-call duties
This position requires the ability to work a swing/rotating shift.

The Tractor Trailer Driver is responsible for ensuring his or her vehicle is in compliance with the Company's safety standards prior to operating the vehicle, ensures that all Company, state, and federal regulations are adhered to at all times while operating the vehicle.
Responsibilities:
Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with Company policy to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order. Report any safety issues on standard reports.
Safely operate his or her heavy truck along his or her designated route and to the disposal site; read route sheet, follow map and service each customer as identified on the route sheet or as assigned by the dispatcher and/or supervisor.
Operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with Company safety policies and procedures to lift and load refuse, operate compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
Courteously interact with all customers, dispatchers, and others on a daily basis to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
Clean area around an accidental waste spill, ensuring adherence to all applicable safety standards and policies.
Continuously monitor the condition of the vehicle to ensure it is operationally ready at all times to minimize down time; clean waste from the packer blade and truck body (where appropriate) on each disposal trip.
Complete required route/productivity sheets, and other reports, as required.
Maintain adherence to required productivity standards for the department to ensure all customers are serviced in a timely and efficient manner.
Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
