Amazon Web Services has an immediate opening for a Technical Manager to manage a team of Technical Program Managers that support AWS Global Brick and Position Delivery's data center scaling initiatives. This manager will work with their peers to own delivery networking equipment for our global data center fleet. The ideal candidate possesses experience in the area of program management, experience managing complex and large-scale and technology projects (including cost, schedule and performance for portfolios, programs, or individual projects), and developing/improving processes and procedures. This individual will be responsible for managing a team (~8) of technical program managers. This person will work across all levels and functions, with an ability to escalate and drive problems through completion. This individual will own all facets of performance and career management, including regular on-to-one meetings with all team members and both technical and soft-skill mentoring. Key job responsibilities Monitor the networking build program's overall progress; anticipate risks, resolve issues and initiate corrective action as appropriate. • Work with stakeholders (networking engineers/tech program managers/senior management) to define requirements and processes. • Manage a team of 10+ individual contributors. • Manage the dependencies and the interfaces between projects and negotiate the trade-offs needed. • Provide program progress reporting on a regular basis. • End to end responsibility for the program's execution and success. • Manage multiple competing projects/programs simultaneously. • Run meetings, create and maintain timelines, and keep large, diverse groups informed of progress and obstacles. • Ensure consistency in deployed configurations and track exceptions for follow up. • Develop and implement scalable, data-driven process improvement/automated solutions. • Report ad hoc, weekly, and monthly program and operating metrics. • Keep the customer experience as the primary focus. • The candidate must also be comfortable managing remote project delivery teams, and possess the ability to facilitate technical whiteboard sessions to troubleshoot project implementation issues and remove barriers to project success. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of project management experience OR 7 years of project management experience (experience can be substituted for degree). - Minimum of 3 years managing teams ranging from 3-10+ direct reports. - 3+ years managing complex technology or infrastructure related projects. - 3+ years involved in data centers, networking engineering, and/or systems engineering. - 3+ years in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management. Public Policy & External Engagement - Support AWS Public Policy teams by providing regulatory expertise on proposed legislation and regulatory changes (rulemakings), including drafting technical briefings, public comments, and participating in stakeholder engagement processes. - In partnership wtih Public Policy, represent AWS in meetings with government agencies, industry groups, and regulatory bodies. - Contribute to the development of policy briefings, comment letters, and other advocacy/communications materials on water-related infrastructure issues. Water Sustainability & Innovation - Identify opportunities to advance AWS water sustainability goals through reuse, alternate sourcing, and decentralized treatment systems. - Recommend innovative approaches to streamline permitting and regulatory engagement while ensuring environmental compliance. Position Requirements: · High school diploma or equivalent. · 3+ years' experience in the low voltage cabling or related industry including knowledge of telecommunication, structured cabling, and wireless technologies. · 3+ years project management experience. · Excellent interpersonal communication skills (verbal, written, and listening). · Capable of managing multiple projects of various size and scope in parallel. · Ability to manage cost and time effectively in assigned projects. · Ability to read and understand architectural drawings. Preferred: · College degree or equivalent. · 5+ years project management experience. · 5+ years' experience in the low voltage industry. · 1+ years of low voltage design experience. · Field experience installing structured cabling systems or wireless systems. · Industry certification such as PMP, RCDD, RTPM, or other BICSI certs. Physical Requirements: · Perform “desk duties” such as sitting, typing, writing, filing, and speaking on the telephone. · Perform computer work utilizing monitor, mouse, and keyboard. · Drive throughout Wisconsin. · Assist as required with communications infrastructure installation, maintenance, and service. · Lift, bend, and carry materials weighing 25-50# unassisted. · Navigate active work areas, including standing on ladders.
