Role Description: As a Trailer Inspection Clerk at Red Baron Transportation, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our terminal. Your work will directly impact the safety and satisfaction of our OTR drivers and customers. By greeting drivers and visitors, managing driver check-ins and check-outs, and performing thorough inspections of incoming trailers, you help maintain our high standards of safety and service. Your ability to coordinate effectively with clients, drivers, and management, coupled with your attention to detail in administrative tasks, will ensure that our operations run smoothly and efficiently. In this role, your professionalism, adaptability, and commitment to quality service will contribute to the overall success of Red Baron Transportation. Responsibilities: • Greet drivers and visitors upon their arrival at the office. • Manage the signing in and out process for drivers. • Perform a variety of administrative tasks to support office operations. • File important documentation accurately and efficiently. • Accurately enter data into various systems. • Coordinate effectively with clients, drivers, and management on the production floor. • Conduct thorough inspections of trailers to ensure they meet safety and regulatory standards. • Physically walk around each tractor-trailer entering the terminal and visually inspect the trailer. • Process driver paperwork. • Handle telephone inquiries. • Serve as the immediate point of contact for OTR drivers, providing direction and advice for navigating the site. • Utilize a customer-focused approach in supervising and communicating with all stakeholders. • Report any systematic errors, driver issues, or safety-related concerns to the Lead Clerk/Site Manager. • Ensure that all accidents or injuries are immediately reported to the Site Manager. • Adhere to policies and procedures provided by both Red Baron Transportation and the customer. • Maintain a positive attitude and professional image when interacting with customers and employees. • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Site Manager or Lead Clerk. Qualifications: • Strong organizational skills. • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (testing will be conducted). • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. • Own steel toe boots (other personal protective equipment will be provided by the company). • Friendly demeanor with a willingness to assist. • Effective communication skills. • Dependability with a strong commitment to punctuality and reliability. • Willingness to learn and thoroughly inspect and check-in equipment. • Ability to quickly learn and navigate customer-based systems. • Capability to generate and analyze necessary reports with guidance. • Ability to promptly recognize and address safety and operational issues after training. • Willingness to learn Red Baron Transportation's policies and operational procedures. • Openness to understanding the customer's policies and operational procedures. • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the customer's employees.
