The Gate Inspector is responsible for inspecting containers arriving and departing from the railroad facility using an automated computerized gate system. This role involves inspecting each trailer and container for damage and completing necessary paperwork.
Responsibilities
+ Inspect all intermodal units for unit number and damage using an automated computerized gate system.
+ Ensure accuracy of all trailer/container inspections, verifying that all security seals are intact.
+ Oversee and document any damage to arriving or departing units with timeliness and accuracy.
+ Clearly communicate all damage incurred on appropriate forms and/or computer systems with direct supervisor.
+ Understand the risk assessment and risk management process to help identify, evaluate, and manage potential risks.
+ Maintain a quality environment where performance inspections are conducted safely and without accidents or injuries.
+ Ensure compliance with HAZMAT and OSHA regulations, reporting any incidents to the supervisor immediately.
+ Maintain clear communication with truck drivers during inspections.

+ Familiarize with all parts and nomenclature of the various areas of the intermodal units while maintaining a safe distance from moving vehicles.

The position is for the late first shift from 10 AM to 6 PM, and also a 12 pm - 8 pm shift, with training on an 8 AM to 4 PM shift for approximately two weeks.
