The Shift Manager coordinates the Safety and Quality activities and oversees production of a production line in accordance with safety, material quality and production standards. We have multiple openings across the plant. Summary of Responsibilities * Supervise approximately fifteen (15) hourly bargaining unit personnel per turn and instruct these personnel in job requirements and enforces conformance with both company and department policies. * Lead daily and monthly safety briefings with hourly employees. * Resolve problems created by breakdowns, scheduled changes, metallurgical procedure changes, etc. * Collaborate with other departments and personnel to assure the efficient operations. * Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications * High School Diploma or GED. * 3 years supervisory experience. * Strong leadership and effective management skills. * Ability to evaluate problems and resolve efficiently. * Ability to work rotating shifts in a 24/7 facility. Preferred Qualifications * A degree in a related field. * General knowledge of the steelmaking process. Specifically: * Use of numerical models and commercial software (e.g. CALPHAD and regression models) to design new alloys * Use of bench-top and pilot scale laboratory methods to assess and optimize new alloy designs for a variety of material performance characteristics * Develop new steel products working with cross functional development teams consisting of Project Manager, Applications Engineer, Advanced Engineering, Quality, and Operations * Identify and pursue new and innovative product ideas and opportunities related to new steel grades and new tools that aid the ability to create and evaluate these materials * Support customer inquiries and troubleshooting steel products * Support qualification testing for new and existing steel products.     Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer at Middletown Works. The Electrical Engineer ensures the reliability of electrical controls and automation equipment by supporting EM&C with troubleshooting and improvement projects. Summary of Responsibilities * Contributes toward the development and continuous improvement of equipment. Develop and execute the implementation of long and short term improvement plans. * Utilizes appropriate failure analysis techniques to determine root causes of failures and initiates necessary corrective action to eliminate/reduce such failures. * Develop understanding or existing PLC programs on all equipment. Program and implement PLC modifications as corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issues. * Will provide engineering expertise in the day-to-day support in troubleshooting and resolving problems (afterhours as required) with PLC's with various supporting instrumentation and motor speed control devices. * Will program, configure and tune both PLC's and motor (AC and DC) drives in relation to manufacturing process control systems. * Works closely with Project Engineering, ensures drawings are updated in keeping with equipment modifications, provides counsel for equipment redesign and performance. * Coordinates requirements, standards, and procedures for the operations of the equipment. * Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology. * Candidates must have a strong interest in electrical circuitry, manufacturing processes, and software/hardware/machine interface. Preferred Qualifications * Ideal candidates will have two or more years of related experience in manufacturing. * Experiences of broad electrical engineering in a manufacturing environment. * PLC design, programming, installation and troubleshooting experience. Summary of Responsibilities * Supervise and direct hourly employees. * Assign manpower and equipment as necessary to repair and upgrade mill equipment. * Direct both planned preventative maintenance activities and work through equipment breakdown scenarios. * Implement the safety program's goals to ensure a safe work environment. * Identify problem(s), gather the appropriate information, and analyze in an effective manner. * Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications * High School Diploma/GED. * 2-5 years supervising maintenance employees in a heavy manufacturing environment. * Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. * Analytic skills with the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems. * Proficient in Microsoft Office. * Strong communication skills. * Work in a 24/7 environment that includes working rotating shifts.
