The Shift Manager coordinates the Safety and Quality activities and oversees production of a production line in accordance with safety, material quality and production standards. We have multiple openings across the plant. Summary of Responsibilities * Supervise approximately fifteen (15) hourly bargaining unit personnel per turn and instruct these personnel in job requirements and enforces conformance with both company and department policies. * Lead daily and monthly safety briefings with hourly employees. * Resolve problems created by breakdowns, scheduled changes, metallurgical procedure changes, etc. * Collaborate with other departments and personnel to assure the efficient operations. * Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications * High School Diploma or GED. * 3 years supervisory experience. * Strong leadership and effective management skills. * Ability to evaluate problems and resolve efficiently. * Ability to work rotating shifts in a 24/7 facility. Preferred Qualifications * A degree in a related field. * General knowledge of the steelmaking process. KB BioEnergy operates and maintains the Akron Renewable Energy Facility, which is responsible for managing all of the wastewater solids from the City's Water Reclamation Facility. Our facility operates 24/7/365! The Electrical Plant Operator performs work throughout the plant for regular operations, regular and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, analysis and repair of equipment, specifically electrical equipment, and related components for a sludge pumping and treatment facility and biogas driven electrical generation systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate, monitor and maintain facility operations Operate various tools including hand tools, welders, pneumatic and electric tools Operate computers and CMMS to obtain work orders, place work orders, log work performed, and search for inventory parts Read and interpret blueprints and schematics Follow all KB BioEnergy safety guidelines and complete incident reports immediately when required Perform general housekeeping in the maintenance shop and throughout the facility Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required Other duties may be assigned QualificationsEducation and/or Experience High school diploma or GED Certificate of completion from a 2-year mechanical training program or military experience preferred Minimum 2 years' experience in industrial setting Electrical experience required Requirements Able to perform maintenance trades including electrical, machinist, rigging systems, welding, pipe fitting and fabrication, pumps and piping systems, gearbox and bearing maintenance, lubrication, mechanical maintenance, and hydraulic and pneumatic Ability to follow oral and written instructions Basic familiarity with diesel and gasoline engines Ability to multitask Ability to work independently and in a team environment Ability to learn new programs/software as needed Ability to work 3rd shift and holidays Candidates must submit to a pre-employment drug screen and background check Preferred Basic computer skills Able to operate heavy equipment Able to use or become familiar with testing equipment Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, twist, bend, stoop, climb ladders, push, pull, shovel, pound, lift, talk, and hear Occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. The Shift Manager Operations is a front-line supervisory position that coordinates the Safety and Quality activities and oversees the production of a production line in accordance with safety, material quality, and production standards. Summary of Responsibilities * Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards. Perform safety, quality, and environmental audits on a timely basis. * Uphold and enforce safety, environmental, job procedures and maintain general discipline of the crew. * Monitor the operation and intercede promptly with corrective action, coordinating multiple disciplines in the execution of these duties. * Schedule and supervise hourly personnel, working directly with them on the shop floor and from the shift manager's office. Ensure direct reports receive proper training and utilization, while establishing an equitable relationship focused on excellence in safety and production. * Work with maintenance organization, planners, and schedulers in developing work lists for repair and/or preventative maintenance items. * Make operational decisions in high-stress situations, following direction from superiors and abiding by corporate policies and procedures. * Develop and perform studies to identify problems, make recommendations to achieve desired improvements, and communicate process improvement ideas to workforce that promote reliability, quality, and productivity. * Supervise a turn crew of operating and maintenance personnel in the operating department to which assigned. * Communicate with upstream and downstream employees and contractors to coordinate work, deliveries, and service. * Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications * At least 2 years of experience in heavy industry or the military, working with skilled craft workers in a union environment. * Available to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, in a multi-level organization that operates 24/7, and work extended hours as needed. * Must be able to work in a hot, dusty environment. Climbing stairs, ladders, and walking inclines. Able to work/walk safely on uneven surfaces. Able to work outdoors in all weather. * Computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and exposure to databases. * Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree * 2 years of supervisory experience in heavy industry or the military * Steel mill experience is preferred. Relocation assistance may be considered for highly qualified candidates from outside the local area. The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $110,000. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
