Our Nursing Professional Development Specialist supports Cleveland Clinic's mission through evidence-based practice which provides up-to-date information to educate those who serve. This position will be based at Main Campus and travel to other locations to support the needs of the department, teams, and caregivers.
This is a full-time position. A caregiver in this role works days, from 8:00am to 6:00pm and will provide coverage for PTOs. Onsite location will be at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, but will travel to different schools and medical facilities.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Design, direct, implement, and evaluate educational offerings based on knowledge, skills and learning levels of nursing staff.
Identify learning needs and desires of nursing personnel.
Develop and utilize appropriate evaluation systems to determine the effectiveness of educational activities.
Consult with individuals within the Nursing Institute and Ambulatory Nursing, CCF and the community regarding professional nursing practice and roles.
Assist in the development of department specific orientation and competencies.
Assist departments in orientation of staff.
Develop and maintain a cataloging system for tracking and retrieval of all available teaching-learning resources.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing
Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN)
Two years of recent nursing experience with demonstrated clinical expertise to include clinical nursing experience, preceptor, BCLS or ACLS instructor
Demonstrated knowledge of education methodology such as needs assessment, curriculum development, instructional design, and principles of adult learning
Presentation skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Master's degree
Master's degree in Nursing with a non-nursing Bachelor's degree is acceptable
Certification in specialty

Responsibilities:

**Education:**
+ Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
+ Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master's degree preferred.
+ Graduate of Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC) approved Physician Assistant Program; Bachelor's or Master's preferred.

A caregiver in this position works days, Monday - Friday between 7:30am - 4:00pm or 8:00am - 4:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
* Provide Therapeutic Programming assessments, written treatment plans, programming and ongoing notes in conjunction with the overall treatment objectives for each patient.
* Design, research and implement therapeutic interventions to address designated patient needs.
* Assess and document patient's attendance and evaluate participation in therapeutic interventions.
* Attend and contribute to interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate appropriately within the interdisciplinary team throughout treatment regarding patient progress.
* Demonstrate effective group leadership skills in the treatment of patients and adapt groups (task, environment, time, location) to meet changing patient or staff needs.
* Complete routine paperwork within prescribed time frames and accurately document all pertinent and meaningful observations and information on appropriate forms.
* Adhere to general expectations for all employees to ensure the program functions effectively to meet the treatment needs of patients.
* Maintain the confidentiality of patients, staff and the hospital by respecting patients' rights and dignity.
* Act as a change agent in introducing new clinical information to the hospital.
* Practice within the appropriate scope of practice and engage in clinical supervision if required (ATR-P).
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
* Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy, Art Therapy, and/or Expressive Therapy
* Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification and WELLE De-escalation training within 90 days of hire
* Master's Degree for Art Therapy candidates
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
* Registered Art Therapist (ATR) or Registered Art Therapist Provisional (ATR-P)
* Experience providing therapeutic services in the Behavioral Health setting
* Six months of group work and program planning/development experience
Physical Requirements:
* Standing and walking more than 80% of time.
* Sitting less than 20% of the time.
* Hand and finger dexterity, reaching with arms and hands more than 75% of the time.
* Close vision and depth perception more than 50% of the time.
* Hearing and talking more than 80% of the time.
* Lifting over 100 pounds (with assistance), frequently pushing and pulling less than 25% of the time.
