Lodi Hospital's East Wing is considered a med/surg unit that can be used for swing, rehab, observation, and inpatient care. Caregivers in this unit wear multiple hats and are known for being a flexible, versatile and small team. As a PatientCare Nurse Assistant (PCNA), your primary duties will include providing or assisting with basic patientcare under the supervision of an RN, reporting abnormal findings and changes in patients' condition and keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly. This is an excellent opportunity to receive hands-on experience while providing exceptional care to our patients, ensuring the best health outcomes.
A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. with every other weekend and 3 holidays per year requirements.

Patients in this unit have a wide variety of acute and chronic medical conditions, such as head and neck cancer, surgical flaps and grafts, renal failure, diabetes, hypertension, pneumonia, sepsis and complex multi-system failure. Caregivers float to both sides of the unit, so you will have one foot in medicine and 1 foot in critical care.

* Take and document the patient's temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, weight, and height.
* Perform treatment procedures, such as venous blood draws, enemas, application of ice and heat packs, non-sterile compresses, skin preps, setting up oxygen equipment, bed scale weights, setting up overhead trapeze and Buck's traction, removing urinary foley catheters and other therapeutic measures.
* Assist with pre-operative and post-operative care, such as turning and positioning patients with proper body mechanics, applying/utilizing special equipment and ambulating the patient as directed in a safe, prescribed manner.
* Assist and accompany patients during admission, transfer and discharge.
* Perform hourly safety rounds, anticipate patient needs and respond to patient call lights promptly.
* Collect, properly label and transport specimens to proper area in timely manner.
* Document patientcare in the electronic medical record.
* Complete ongoing competency requirements, education programs and mandatory training to maintain certification and/or licensure.

Mercy Hospital's 9M Cardiac Stepdown Unit primarily cares for patients coming from the Cardiovascular Surgical Care Unit (CVSCU). This is an excellent opportunity for a student in an RN program who has completed a clinical rotation. This PRN position offers a flexible schedule that allows for a balance between school, work and life.

A PRN caregiver in this position works variable days and hours with shifts starting from 6:00am-2:30pm or 2:00pm-10:30pm.

Patientcare may include vital signs, weight, assistingpatients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
