1953

The Magistrate Department of the Cleveland Municipal Court dates back to the Municipal Court Act, passed by the Ohio General Assembly in 1953.

1967

In 1967, Mercedes Spotts became the first female deputy bailiff for the Cleveland Municipal Court.

1997

In 1997, the Mediation Program was expanded to include civil cases assigned to individual judges’ regular dockets.
