About the role:
CLA is looking to hire an Assistant Controller to join our growing CAAS (Client Accounting & Advisory Services) State & Local Government team in Massachusetts.
As a member of CLA's CAAS practice, you will provide services to our clients by filling interim positions ranging from Town Accountant, Treasurer/Collector, School Business Manager, Grants Manager and more. Along with annual projects, such as state reporting to DOR and DESE, chart of account design, implementations, internal controls, and forecasting.

What you'll be doing as an Assistant Controller:
Perform Assistant Controller functions as part of the client's accounting services team and manage these functions for your clients.
Act as a consultant and advisor to your clients on best practices for accounting and finance-related engagements.
Provide project management expertise by managing multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
Foster and build opportunities for our clients, communities, and people.
Become an industry professional and attend industry-leading events and trainings.
Maintain knowledge of the client's organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
Required Education/Experience/Abilities:
4 years of experience as a senior accountant, assistant controller, senior auditor or equivalent. Experience with state and local government municipalities strongly preferred.
Bachelor's degree is required. Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
Advanced knowledge of Data Analytics, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint preferred.
Ability to travel to local client sites as needed.
CPA and/or CGA certification preferred but not required.
Knowledge of MUNIS, Softright, Vadar, and/or QuickBooks preferred but not required.
Comfortable in fast paced environment and skilled in multitasking.

Our Private Client Services practice is one of the largest practices in New England, servicing clients both locally and nationally. Our client base is made up of multi‑generation family clients that make use of some of the most sophisticated tax planning structures to minimize income, gift and estate taxes, along with charitable planning. Many of our PCS clients maintain their own multi‑employee Family Office to manage the Family wealth. This practice also works with some of the largest investment advisory firms and estate and trust law firms, both locally and nationally. Essential Functions and Primary Duties
Regarded as a Subject Matter Expert within business unit and shares knowledge
Make recommendations on internal department procedures
Recognize business opportunities for our clients and for CBIZ
Assume significant client responsibility as client's trusted advisor, is relied upon for knowledge of industry trends, identify client issues and conflicts; proactively communicate solution options to client and team

Leadership Advisory Services Practice The Leadership Advisory Services (LAS) Practice is an exciting, vibrant, and dynamic practice within Spencer Stuart. Operating synergistically alongside the Firm's market-leading Executive Search business, LAS professionals provide advice and partnership to clients navigating a range of key leadership and talent issues including: aligning culture and talent strategy with business strategy; maximizing team effectiveness; merger integration support; executive assessment; and talent development and transition support. LAS provides expertise in leadership assessment and development, which is a critical component to CEO succession. Furthermore, LAS is the engine that drives our capabilities and culture models, which are employed during CEO Succession engagements to ensure clients take a multi-faceted approach towards their leadership decisions.
The Role
The LAS Associate supports Consultants in the full execution of client engagements, including the deep dive, multi-method assessment of executives, teams and organizations, and the formulation of written materials relative to assessment and development findings. The Associate contributes actively at all stages of the engagement lifecycle- from business development/RFP through to advisory recommendations and client/participant feedback.
The LAS practice serves as an innovation hub for the broader firm. In addition to executing client engagements, the Associate serves as a subject matter expert relative to Spencer Stuart's proprietary culture products and solutions. They play an important role in the education and training of internal colleagues (both LAS and Search) regarding product offerings and participates actively in internal initiatives for LAS product development and the build-out of the practice infrastructure.
The objective of the LAS Associate role is to provide world-class leadership advisory services to the firm's clients while also serving as a key colleague and teammate in advancing the growth agenda of the practice within the context of the firm's overall strategic objectives.
A typical LAS client engagement team may include: LAS Consultants, Associates, Project Managers, Search Consultants and Executive Assistants. We view the leadership advisory skillset to be portable across industries; the LAS Associate serves clients across a diverse range of industry sectors.
The LAS Associate role requires approximately 30-50% travel, primarily within the geographic/continental region of the person's home office (i.e. EMEA, North America, APAC). Occasional global travel may be required.
The base compensation range for this position is $90,000 -150,000 per year. You may also be eligible to participate in our annual discretionary bonus program, in addition to our comprehensive benefits program, including medical insurance, 401(k), paid holidays. Key Responsibilities
Supporting Execution
The LAS Associate is critical to the execution of client engagements and plays an active role in all aspects of the engagement lifecycle. The successful Associate will handle multiple engagements across varied time zones with competing deadlines, and will work effectively with individuals who have differing styles in order to consistently produce world-class deliverables for the firm's clients:
* Fosters business development opportunities and assists in preparation for pitch presentations; participates in new business pitches

Contribute actively to the start-up phase of each search by participating in client kick-off meetings with the Consultant and assisting in the development of the position specification, search strategy and target list of companies.

McDermott is seeking 2L summer associates to join us for our 10-week 2027 Summer Associate Program. Our program offers summer associates a realistic introduction to the practice of law and day-to-day life as a McDermott associate. The Event Technology Manager is responsible for owning and leading the firm's event technology program, including the strategy, roadmap, standards, and delivery of event websites, mobile applications, and related digital event experiences. Any employment agency, person or entity that submits an unsolicited resume does so with the understanding that CohnReznick will have the right to hire that applicant at its discretion without any fee owed to the submitting employment agency, person or entity.
