The Role

As a Science Analyst with Schmidt Futures you will have the opportunity to do meaningful work with the potential for broad impact. In this visible role, you'll navigate ambiguity and analyze real world problems using exceptional quantitative skills and judgment to produce well formulated insights and ideas. Science Analysts are a critical part of the team, working directly with other members of Schmidt Futures to perform implementation support and analysis relevant to:
Development of new programs, sector research, program design, human capital deployment, and management.

Existing programs and individual gifts, grants, or investments either underway or completed.
Schmidt Futures' cross-portfolio operations in strategy, budget, organizational design, implementation, and talent management.

Key ResponsibilitiesConduct research and analysis designed to outline potential opportunities for impact, understand relative effectiveness of alternative models, and quantify likely results of programs overall and/or individual gifts, grants, or investments.Perform landscape analyses to identify potential opportunities for partnership as well as lessons learned from existing efforts in the field.Work closely with others on the team to provide execution support and perform independent analysis to help verify outcomes of Schmidt Futures' programs and/or individual gifts, grants, or investments.Assist in finding and supporting exceptional talent.Identify important issues to be resolved through organizational planning processes, and propose alternatives based on research of potential scale and scope on criteria to be defined.Prepare relevant communications for senior members of the Schmidt Futures team in support of their communications and thought leadership.
Desired CapabilitiesProject management skills, including capabilities to drive efforts independently, and ensure effective implementation.Ability to coordinate efforts across multiple stakeholders, partners, and portfolio teams Ability to work under pressure, across multiple work-streams, in order to meet project timelines.Exceptional problem-solving skills, for both conceptual and analytical problems Demonstrated analytical skills, including quantitative modeling.Values-based, collaborative working style with demonstrated commitment to the highest standards of ethics and confidentiality.Strong written and verbal communication skills.
RequirementsHave 1 to 3 years of experience in business, project management, consulting, research, science laboratory, government, philanthropy, technology, or the military.Have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with a major in a hard science (chemistry, biology, physics) or computer science.Be based in the Schmidt Futures offices in New York and be able to support onsite operations in the office on a regular basis as needed following company policy and permitting circumstances.

Job Description

The Washington Post is seeking two reporters to serve as global climate correspondents, new positions at the heart of The Post's expansion of climate coverage.

These writers would illuminate the successes and failure of governments and companies around the world addressing the causes and impact of climate change. They will pursue vivid, urgent storytelling and accountability journalism about some of the most pressing issues facing humanity: whether and how fast the world's biggest countries can curb emissions, and the manifold effects of a warming planet on people and politics. This position reflects The Post's strong commitment to elevate our global coverage of climate, the environment and extreme weather.

From continents to tiny islands, from the world's metropolises to the oceans, these writers will be expected to generate a steady output of factual and conceptual scoops, high-altitude stories that connect the dots, and explanatory and investigative enterprise. The best candidates would eagerly deploy to cover a natural disaster; document the human consequences of ecological change, from famine to forced relocation; and investigate a powerful institution's climate or environmental record.

These writers will be part of The Post's Climate & Environment Department but work in close concert with foreign correspondents and editors as well as members of our visual departments. A desire to participate in all the kinds of journalism we produce - from rich narratives to audio and graphics-driven stories to short video dispatches for social media - will be a crucial aspect of these roles.

The strongest candidates will have a track record of foreign reporting as well as some experience covering climate, the environment, and related subjects. While we want these two positions to cover different regions of the world, we are open to proposals for where they should be based. There is a strong internal candidate for one of these positions, but not for the other, so we encourage anyone with an interest in covering global climate issues for The Post to consider applying.

Day to day:

* Support the delivery of change management activities and deliverables aligned to the FCTG Change Framework
* Work with key stakeholders to facilitate the analysis and review of impacts and business readiness, assisting with the development of change initiatives and associated communications
* Support the development of change management documentation and deliverables, including developing communications (written and digital) and training content (artifacts and media)
* Assist the Change Manager in tracking the successful implementation of change management activities, providing input into stakeholder reporting, identifying risks and issues, and developing appropriate mitigations
* Develop and maintain effective working relationships to support the development and implementation of change activities
* Demonstrate a personal commitment to health and safety and support a diverse and inclusive workplace
* Compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and practices

The ideal candidate will have:

* Minimum 2 years working within a change, consulting, process improvement or project management experience within a large, multidisciplinary organisation (required)
* Understanding of change methodologies (required)
* Facilitating workshops and / or training sessions (required)
* Creating and delivering written and digital communications (desirable)
* Working within a travel organisation (desirable)

Qualifications:

* Tertiary qualifications in Change Management (Prosci, APMG, etc. certifications), related disciplines (Process Improvement, Human Resources, Communications, Business, etc.), or equivalent experience is required
