If working for the Special Systems division this individual has a deep understanding of the many systems installed and maintained within the division. The individual usually has a high level NICET or other certification and is active in the industry. Provides mentoring and direct supervision when required on projects. Job Duties & Responsibilities: Perform service and inspections based on NFPA 10, 12, 17, 17A, and 2001 Identify, correct, and report violations or non-compliance issues relating to NFPA, OSHA, and local fire safety codes. Perform basic troubleshooting and describe them to owners and service managers for repairs Conduct regular inspections and testing of commercial kitchen hood suppression systems to ensure proper function and compliance with regulatory requirements (including code-mandated semiannual checks). Complete detailed inspection, maintain accurate reporting, maintenance, and repair reports, documenting findings and actions taken. Respond to emergency service requests, troubleshoot urgent issues, and restore fire suppression system functionality in high-pressure situations. Monitor and assure progress and completion of all assigned tasks. Complete time sheets, service work orders, and other paperwork required for this position in an accurate and timely manner. Provide service support on existing installations ensuring systems continue to meet existing building codes. Assist Sales team during estimating phase including potential product or system demonstrations. May perform inspections from man lifts at elevations of 30 to 40 feet from ground level, as necessary Other duties as assigned. Skills & Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of high school diploma or GED. 2+ years of related work experience in commercial kitchen hood inspection and service required. Other technical experience such as military, on the job training programs, etc. may meet this requirement as determined by local management. Experience and expertise including but not limited to: Working knowledge of the operational characteristics of fire extinguishers, kitchen hoods, and emergency/exit lights Knowledge of NFPA 10, 12, 17, 17A, and 2001 Basic mechanical skills, including the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues An understanding of computer operating systems including MS Office Suite of products. Certifications with an advanced understanding such as NICET, CSA, and Backflow (Inspection and Repair) An advanced understanding of reading and interpreting blueprints Essential Functions: Be able to lift and carry ladders, drawings, personal computers, material, etc. Be able to lift up to 75lbs. Be able to spend significant time standing and walking on construction sites. Be able to climb several flights of stairs or ladders throughout a typical day on a construction site. NICET Certified in Fire Alarm or other fire protection field(s). Certified in Electronic Security Systems (Access Control, CCTV, Intrusion detection). Essential Job Functions: Be able to lift and carry ladders, drawings, personal computers, material, etc. Be able to lift up to 50lbs. Be able to spend significant time standing and walking on construction sites. Be able to climb several flights of stairs or ladders throughout a typical day on a construction site. Maintain a satisfactory driving record which, per Climatec's vehicle policy, allows the individual to drive on company business. Be physically able to kneel, stoop and crawl. Must have accurate color vision and maintain clear visual acuity to safely and effectively perform job responsibilities. This role involves frequent work in outdoor settings, mechanical or equipment rooms, and potentially extreme weather conditions. Regular exposure includes live voltage, moving mechanical parts, heavy machinery, and wet or humid environments. Work may also involve elevated or precarious locations, exposure to airborne particles, fumes, electrical hazards, and vibrations. Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme temperatures (hot or cold), and loud noise levels is to be expected.
