Registered Nurse - Endoscopy/Gastroenterology


Job Details:
The Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) is a highly specialized and trained nurse who provides care in illnesses and disorders related to the entire GI tract. They provide vital assistance during patients’ endoscopic procedures.


This is a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Endoscopy or Gastroenterology unit.



Responsibilities include but are not limited to
Preparing instruments prior to endoscopies Sedating patients prior to their procedure and relaying aftercare instructions post-procedure Assisting physicians throughout procedures Responding quickly and properly in the event of an emergency Monitoring patients’ vital signs throughout their procedure


Qualifications:
Current and valid State RN License from MO Completed a Nursing program from an accredited university Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Current AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or willing to get within 30 days upon hire Current AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or willing to get within 30 days upon hire Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Demonstrated general knowledge and competence with regard to nursing theories, concepts and practices; medical terminology; anatomy; and physiology.
• Working knowledge of the healthcare industry, safety precaution policies, best practices regarding patient care and privacy, and changes in local/state/federal regulations.
• Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
• Time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize patient care, assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and practices to achieve objectives and meet time sensitive activities.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Outlook).
• Work independently as well as be part of the team, while accomplishing multiple interventions in an ever-changing environment.

• Ensure the privacy of each patient's protected health information (PHI).
• Build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
