Job Summary:
The Ambulatory Surgical Services Clinical Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the clinical areas (including OR and Pre-OP/PACU) and implements process initiatives to improve efficiency of services and patient experience. The Clinical Director of Ambulatory Surgery Center will report to the ASC Administrator and will collaborate with them to promote fiscal accountability, develop and revise policies, and evaluate staff performance. The Outpatient Surgical Center Clinical Director will oversee staff credentialing, preventative safety measures, risk management duties, and use their clinical and leadership experience to enhance patient care and improve clinical outcomes.
Responsibilities

Job Title & Role Description:
The Triage Nurse will serve in a direct care and patient advocacy role and will ensure interdisciplinary care is optimized toward targeted outcomes. By collaborating with the Clinical Operations team to assess, plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate services and outcomes to maximize the patient's health.
The Triage will ensure the safe and effective transition of care for patients discharging from the emergency department. Through telephonic-based outreach, the Triage Nurse will contact the patient or caregiver within 48 hours of discharge to conduct a comprehensive discharge assessment, conduct medication reconciliation, provide patient or caregiver education, support post-discharge order fulfillment (i.e., Durable Medical Equipment, Home Health Care, etc.), assess for any potential barriers to a successful transition to home, and evaluate for additional care planning needs. Additionally, the Triage Nurse will confirm the patient has a provider appointment within 7-14 days of discharge, or sooner, depending on the post-discharge needs of the patient.
Real-time clinical triage will be conducted either telephonically from a patient directly calling UpwardHealth for clinical care, a field staff member reaching out for escalation needs, or a systematic alert based on documentation entered in the system requiring review and triage. For Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) alerts, the Triage Nurse will take immediate action for abnormal or out-of-range patient results.

Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Chief Medical Officer and based on a thorough knowledge of the policies and practices of the Student Health and Psychological Services unit, the Registered Nurse II works as part of the professional health care team to provide basic and augmented health services to students. Serves as a charge nurse for triage and has initial responsibility for the physical assessment of patients, including the taking of a medical history. Promotes smooth patient flow, minimizing waiting times and expediting patient services. Determines, according to established procedures and protocols, appropriate consultation and referral to medical providers. May refer to a private physician or community agency for illnesses and injuries beyond the scope of Student Health services. Administers inoculations and vaccines. Provides information and patient education for currently required and recommended immunizations. Counsels patients on a wide variety of problems (e.g. TB skin tests, allergies, sexually transmitted disease, pregnancy and oral contraception). Performs therapeutic measures as delegated, including injections, nebulizer treatments, venipuncture, EKGs, audiograms, ear lavage, application of dressings, instruction in the use of crutches and orthotic devices. Assists providers and consultants in all facets of clinical examination and treatment, including minor surgical procedures. Responds to emergency medical calls with or without a primary care provider. Collaborates and consults with physicians and clinicians regarding more complicated health problems. Participates in staff meetings, in-service training programs and quality improvement studies. Supervises, orients, and trains student assistants. Assists in the orientation or new personnel as appropriate. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge of the functions of a student health services program, including its relationship to other programs in the university. Knowledge, sensitivity and ability to work with students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the campus community. Possession of strong, broadly adaptable clinical and interpersonal skills necessary to accommodate the many variable situations related to the physical and emotional health of students. Possess broad and specialized nursing knowledge that supports the performance of specialized duties in such areas as, but not limited to, triage and assessment, patient counseling, and staffing specialized nursing clinics; broader knowledge of clinic operations and the development and implementation of a nursing program, including procedures and protocols.
Applicants must demonstrate possession of a valid California RN license, continuing education units required for California licensure, freedom from color blindness. Incumbents must also possess and maintain certification in CPR/AED. Position requires one (1) year of professional nursing experience, which has given evidence of the ability to work independently or work in specialized nursing activities.
Preferred:
Additional consideration will be given to applicants demonstrating any of the following preferred skills and experience: coursework in physical assessment; or knowledge of specialized health education topics, American Red Cross CPR instruction certification (BCLS/ACLS), one (1) year or more experience in a college health center or emergency care facility.
