American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) position requiring open shift availability and strong ICU skills.
Responsibilities
Work in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in a hospital setting
Care for a diverse PICU population including respiratory, sepsis, and neuro patients
Must float to other ICUs and floors as needed, including between campuses
Open availability for day and night 12-hour shifts; night/weekend shifts are preferred
Every other weekend coverage required
No on-call responsibilities
Utilizes Epic EMR for documentation
Experience with ventilator management, titration of pressors, and management of central and arterial lines required
Responsible for complete patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the PICU
Expected to coordinate and delegate care within an interdisciplinary team
Physical demands include lifting, carrying, frequent standing, and navigating busy environments
Must be able to transport patients with ventilators and handle heavy equipment
Basic understanding of congenital heart disease is beneficial
Candidates with a positive attitude and excellent communication skills preferred
Permanent staff must be separated from any Intermountain facility for at least one year to be eligible
First-time travelers will not be considered for this assignment

Ability to manage ventilator-dependent patients and use IV pumps
Experience titrating medications, including pressors, and working with central and arterial lines is required

Self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance for you to have predictability in your schedule
Culture of mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staff
Continuous investment in equipment including surgical instruments, devices and patient positioning for you to do your best work with patient safety and workflow efficiency in the Operating Room
Rounding with unit leaders, including charge nurses, to ensure your voice is heard on suggestions for patient care and surgical workflow improvement
On-call is required during select non-business hours
What you will do in this role:
Evaluate patients prior to surgery
Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process
Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification
Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy
Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives
Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team - consisting of the provider(s), surgeons, surgical technologists and more
Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients

Job Summary and Qualifications
As the Float Pool OR Nurse, you will contribute to the company's mission and vision by utilizing the nursing process in planning, executing, and evaluating the nursing care given to the surgical patient during the intra-operative period.
What you will do in this role:
You will rotate to other ambulatory surgery center facilities
Demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures and have the ability to oversee instrument and equipment set-up, prepare for the case utilizing preference cards, and anticipate needs of surgeon
Coordinate and oversee the room during a case as the circulator
Facilitate effective and efficient transition between surgical procedures
Utilize preference cards and update as necessary
Relay appropriate hand off communication to PACU staff to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications you will need:
Nursing Diploma
Minimum 2 years' experience in an operating room setting; preferably in an ambulatory surgery center
Active RN license as required by state of employment or appropriate compact licensure
Valid BCLS & ACLS Certifications required upon employment (online certification not acceptable)
PALS (Within 90 days, or earlier per Dept arrangement)
CNOR certification preferred

How you'll contribute
A RegisteredNurse (RN) who excels in this role:
Prioritizes and organizes delivery of nursing care; accepting a variety of assignments and consulting with other disciplines as appropriate.
Assists in staff development activities, including orienting, instructing and training others, emphasizing departmental, as well as interdepartmental cooperation and teamwork.
Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress and aids patients and families as needed in times of stress or crisis.
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
Documents patient care given.
Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Qualifications and requirements:
Bachelor's degree preferred
Must have a current, valid Utahnursing license, compact state license or Utah apprentice RN License
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire.
Stable within 1year of hire.
NRP within 1 year of hire.
