Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY: Provides nutritional screening for hospital inpatients. Provides nutritional assessments and appropriate follow up measures for all at risk patients. Communicates with other health care professionals to ensure optimal nutrition care.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Assesses the nutritional status of patients. Provides individualized care plans based on assessment. Educates and counsels patients and families on modified diets. Documents findings, actions, summary of assessments, follow up and diet instructions comprehension in medical chart. Attends multidisciplinary meetings on regular basis to ensure optimal nutritional care. Takes phone inquiries regarding nutrition related questions/problems from in and outside the hospital. Monitors patient menus to ensure adherence to meal plan.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS :
A professional level of knowledge in the field of nutrition and dietetics. Requires skills in providing effective nutrition counseling and education to ensure appropriate nutrition care. Requires the ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and develop nutritional teaching material.
EDUCATION :
Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition, with ADA Licensed by the State of Iowa Registration or ADA eligibility Active registration with the American Dietetic Association

Description:

The registered dietitian (RD) is responsible for the nutritional assessment and intervention of acute care hospitalized patients. The RD recommends appropriate medical nutrition therapy based on patient‘s diagnosis, nutrition focused physical exam and overall health status. Identifies the proper nutrition regimen and places order in the medical record. Communicates plan of care to all responsible parties. Educates patients, family and significant others on nutrition plan. Contributes to departmental achievements through process improvement. Documents findings, orders, interventions in the electronic health record.

Estimated salary range for this position is $48207 - $62669 / year depending on experience.

Qualifications:

Degrees: Bachelors Licenses & Certifications: Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN) CDR Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist Additional Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nutrition - BSNT required.Registered Dietitian with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Commission on Dietetic Registration and Florida State licensure (LD/N). If registration/license eligible, must become registered/licensed within 6 months. Master‘s degree preferred. This position requires direct patient care through assessment, intervention and care planning.
