Overview
The Clinical Educator assumes responsibility for all activities related to assessment, coordination, planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational and competency programs to patient care staff in department(s)/unit(s) of responsibility. Collaborates with Talent Development and Optimization and other content experts/educators to provide educational opportunities and improve staff competence. The Clinical Educator is a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for scientific inquiry, advocate for NPD specialty and is a partner for practice transitions. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the mission, values, and service standards of Mercy Health.
Qualifications
Education:
Preferred Bachelor of Science in Healthcare related field. Would need to be enrolled in accredited program within 6 months of starting role. Completion of program within 2 years of hire date.
Licensure:
Current State of Missouri RN license.
Experience:
3 years of active bedside care delivery in the immediate past. Proven education experience.
Certifications:
Preferred to have or be progressing toward certification in a specialty of nursing related to the unit(s)/departments of responsibility. The expectation is to achieve certification within 3 years of accepting position. Clinical Educators are required to maintain certification in the highest level of life support required for their respective department; must obtain this certification within a year from hire.

The Clinical Education Specialist (CES) is a Registered Nurse who is clinically competent in his/her area of specialty nursing and demonstrates expanded roles of nursing in expert patient care delivery, education, consultation, research application and utilization, and leadership/administration. The Clinical Education Specialist functions as an educator in a variety of settings for a variety of audiences. The CES is a staff education development and competency expert that delivers high quality education while assuring accrediting agency standards are maintained and current. The Clinical Specialist will support orientation, on-going education, and competency requirements for all staff in their specialty area. Clinical Education Specialist Position Requirements
+ Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse. Must hold a license in the state of permanent residency.
+ Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with Bachelor's Degree or higher in Nursing.
+ Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in area of specialty required, including experience with electronic EMR.
+ Master's Degree required or earned within 5 years of hire
+ BLS instructor certification required within 6 months of hire.
+ Specialty life support instructor certification required within 1 year of hire.

+ Credentialed EPIC trainer certification for specialty area required within 6 months of hire.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following.
Develop proficiency in Lymphology, Wound Care, and phlebology with regards to the disease states, product design and function.
