We are seeking a Clinical Exercise Physiologist (Exercise Physiologist, Exercise Specialist, Cardiac Rehab Therapist) to:
- Coordinate a treatment plan to meet the clinical and educational needs of heart patients, families, patients at risk for cardiovascular disease and patients with peripheral artery disease.
- Work on moderate to complex situations requiring a varying level of skill.
- Communicate and interact with a wide variety of internal and external professionals to provide the best patient care.
- Conduct stress tests with and without nuclear imaging.
Education :
Minimum - Master's degree in clinical Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Exercise Science or related field with emphasis in cardiac rehabilitation.
Work Experience :
Minimum - Three (3) month internship in a comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program
Preferred - One or more years of relevant clinical experience in cardiac rehabilitation
Licenses and Certifications :
Minimum -
• Current CPR and ACLS certification.
• American College of Sports Medicine Clinical Exercise Specialist or Registered Clinic Exercise Physiologist Certification
• Minimum Qualification Substitute in place of ACSM Clinical Exercise Specialist or Registered Clinic Exercise Physiologist Certification for Pediatric Fitness Center, Research Park Fitness Center

We are seeking a knowledgeable and conscientious Clinical Exercise Physiologist for this independent role in our Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center. Our innovative and experienced team of specialists offers a full range of studies to diagnose multiple conditions affecting the lungs.
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center helps patients manage their lung disease in every stage, considering, among other aspects, medication and nutrition. Our experts work with patients on breathing retraining, muscle strength and conditioning. We are looking to supplement our staff with an Exercise Physiologist, who would assist the RN Rehabilitation Coordinator with the following:
+ Implements an appropriate exercise training program for participants
+ Assesses patient before, during and after exercise
+ Exercise patient while monitoring EKG, oxygen saturations, Blood Pressure and Short of Breath and fatigue ratings
+ Recognizes when premature termination is warranted and takes appropriate actions
+ Revises/implements patient training sessions - tailors instructions to individual patient learning needs as indicated
Education:
+ Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology or Exercise Science required
License/Certifications:
+ BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
+ ACLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross preferred or willing to obtain within one year from start date
Experience:
+ A minimum of 1 year of experience in Diagnostic Imaging preferred

The
Clinical Specialist, Exercise Physiologist assumes responsibility and
accountability for the delivery of patient care in Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation
(Cardiac Rehab, Pulmonary Rehab, and Ornish Intensive Cardiac Rehab) by
assisting patients in achieving their optimal functional capacity through
exercise (both monitored and non-monitored), education, and risk factor
modification. The Clinical Specialist, Exercise Physiologist consistently
demonstrates professional skills and abilities, utilizes his/her knowledge base
and proficient skills to act as a resource person for patients and staff. This
position will lend its expertise ensuring safe and effective individually
tailored exercise plans and prescriptions that follow current guidelines, meet
patients' needs and adhere to physician recommendations. The Clinical Specialist,
Exercise Physiologist will assist in the overall case management of
Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab patients (to include but not limited to initial
evaluations, tele-monitoring, preparing
individualized treatment plans and discharge summary reports). They will also
conduct educational classes and in-services as needed. The Clinical Specialist,

Qualifications
+ Master's degree in Exercise Physiology preferred OR Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology with a Clinical Exercise Physiologist Certification from a nationally accredited organization (i.e., ACSM).

+ Clinical Exercise Physiologist (preferred)
+ One year's internship or work experience in cardiac rehabilitation preferred. Proficient in basic arrhythmia recognition. Completed a basic arrhythmia course
+ Must have knowledge and experience of the following: Cardiovascular anatomy and physiology. Pathophysiology of coronary artery disease and cardiovascular medications effects on exercise.
+ Candidate must be willing to work variable hours to cover PTO and sick leaves.
