Job Summary
Performs the duties of a cardiac technologist: invasive cardiac and peripheral vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures and electrophysiology procedures using sophisticated imaging, hemodynamic monitoring and recording equipment to assess and treat cardiac and peripheral vascular disease. Performs as a record who monitors, records, and analyzes the patient's electrocardiogram (EKG) and intracardiac pressures. Assists medical team with sterile procedures. Ability to operate the X-ray equipment and other equipment in the laboratory. Runs blood samples and obtains sterile supplies when needed. Ability to work with all ages from newborn to geriatric patients. Dedicated to electrophysiology (EP) procedures, related protocols, and related technological devices, i.e. pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICDs), biventricular pacemaker (BiV). Expected to ensure the highest quality of care to patients with rhythm disturbances providing advanced care to patients with cardiac arrhythmias including conduction disorders. Possesses expertise in understanding pharmacologic options to treat patients. Understands any special protocols for conscious sedation patients. Possesses a thorough knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamic principles, X-Ray techniques, and emergent and routine cardiac care. Accountable for updating self and staff regarding EP protocols. Ability to work with growth and development needs of unique client populations including children to geriatrics.
Qualifications
Associate's degree in Cardiovascular Technology or equivalent experience is required.
Possesses an expertise in understanding pharmacologic options to treat patients. Expert knowledge in electrophysiology and cardiovascular technology including pharmacology and advanced cardiac rhythm management.
Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) registry through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) is required within 18 months of hire. Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through CCI is preferred. Advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) preferred and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if applicable to position is preferred.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Performs clinical laboratory testing in the following areas: blood banking, microbiology, serology, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis. Obtains or receives specimens, performs clinical laboratory procedures, preventive maintenance, and quality control. Interprets results as to accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits. Works independently, organizing work to meet established deadlines, records all data obtained, and maintains job competence. Full-time, benefited position working 72 - 80 hours per two week pay period. Days of work are variable Sunday - Saturday and shifts include morning and evening rotations as well as nights as needed. PREPARATION AND TRAINING Medical Technologist/MLS/CLS: Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology or related science with 12 months of clinical education in an approved school of medical technology. Must be currently registered or eligible for registration as a MT/MLS/CLS(ASCP) or equivalent. Must currently hold or be eligible for ND Licensure. BLS certified for CPR. Position is required to attend Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training in the appropriate timeframe according to department orientation checklist. Medical Technologist (HEW) - successful completion of a qualifying exam offered by the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Six to 12 months in a hospital training program.
ATTENDANCE: Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at JRMC. Employee are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working. Employees are also expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule.
ANALYTICAL ABILITY: Performs laboratory procedures, including instrument operation. Recognizes factors affecting measurement of test results. Recognizes results that are abnormal or deviate from those expected. Performs the duties of a cardiac technologist: invasive cardiac and peripheral vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures and electrophysiology procedures using sophisticated imaging, hemodynamic monitoring and recording equipment to assess and treat cardiac and peripheral vascular disease. Provides information for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by conducting medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses following established accreditation guidelines and quality control standards. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and gastric juices.
2. Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using microscopic techniques and procedures.
3. Prepares blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions by conducting blood group, type, and compatibility tests.
4. Processes, reads, and reports cultures from various sources as well as antibiotic sensitivities and other microbiology procedures.
5. Ensures operation of analyzers, spectrophotometers, colorimeters, and other laboratory equipment by calibrating; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
6. Maintains laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
7. Conserves laboratory resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
8. Provides medical technology information by answering questions and requests.
9. Prepares reports of technological findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
10. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
11. Works in compliance with all established QA/QI standards.
12. Maintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.
13. Recognizes problems, identifies the cause and implements solutions where appropriate.
14. Orients and/or trains new employees.
15. Performs other related duties as required and directed.

* MT/MLS certification.
* 2 years' experience in Blood Bank.

We are looking for a motivated Cardiac Technologist ready to pour their heart into making a difference. Responsibilities
Performs invasive cardiac, peripheral vascular diagnostic, interventional and electrophysiology procedures using sophisticated imaging, hemodynamic monitoring and recording equipment to assess and treated cardiac and peripheral vascular disease.
Possess a thorough understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamic principles, X-ray techniques, and emergent and routine cardiac care.
Possess knowledge of pharmacologic options for treatment and the impact it can have on exercise performance, hemodynamic and diagnostic tests.
Utilize different equipment, programs, and computers, including Cardiac, Vascular and EP experience XPER/CUPID/ GE, Siemens and Phillips XR system.
Ability to work with growth and development needs of unique client populations.
Qualifications
Associate's degree in cardiovascular technology or equivalent experience is required.
Possesses expert knowledge in cardiovascular technology, including pharmacology and advanced cardiac rhythm management. Possesses a thorough understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamic principles, X-ray techniques, and emergent and routine cardiac care.
Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) within 12 months of hire is preferred. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if applicable to position is preferred.
Depending on location Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) within 12 months of hire is required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is required within 6 months of hire and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if applicable to position is preferred.
