Preferred Requirements Education: Bachelor's Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent such as military training as defined by 42 CFR 493.1489, or have qualified at the Medical Technologist level by achieving a satisfactory grade on a HHS examination prior to 2/28/92 42 CFR 493.1491. Certifications: Registered with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT or CSMLS within 12 months of hire). Equivalency evaluation by ECE, NACES or AICE for non-US trained personnel must be completed within 30 days of hire. Position Summary The Molecular Technologist - Solid Tumor is responsible for performing various high complexity molecular techniques that include but are not limited to nucleic acid extractions and next generation sequencing (NGS). Performs Proficiency Testing in a timely manner and submits results to Supervisors. Conducts validation testing for new clinical assays. Tracks, enters, and monitors patient files using the Laboratory Information System. Maintains laboratory equipment, including completing logs and maintenance, i.e. clean, sterilize, maintain, and shut down laboratory equipment, accessories, and instruments used in research experiments, daily and weekly as required. Follow the laboratory's proce dures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results. Maintain records that dem onstrate that proficiency testing sam ples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
