Requirements:
Associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology required; In lieu of an associate's degree: High school graduate or equivalent and successfully completed military training of 50 or more weeks and served as a Medical Laboratory Specialist; or Education and training equivalent to an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology: A).Education: 60 semester hours including either 24 semester hours of Medical Laboratory Technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses (6 hours of chemistry; 6 hours of biology, and 12 hours in chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology, or any combination). B). Training: either completion of an approved/accredited clinical laboratory training program, which may be included in the 60 semester hours specified above or at least three months of documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing.
Must obtain Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) within 12 months of hire.

**Job Summary and Qualifications**
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) utilizes skills and training to perform test of samples of blood, urine and other body fluids to obtain information utilized in diagnosis and evaluation of patient medical status. Participates in Performance Improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement. Maintains cultural awarenesswhen dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and all other customers. Promotes a supportive, team-work oriented environment. Fulfills departmental responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of the facility.
What you will do in this role:
+ You will handle specimen processing, preanalytic inspection of specimens for identification and integrity.
+ You will perform various types of laboratory test(s) on patient specimens, evaluates test results, and report/enter/verify test results in Laboratory Information System.
+ You will perform and evaluates periodic quality control per policy and procedure.
+ You will evaluate new and/or modified procedures, reagents and instruments as directed by Section Coordinator.
+ Troubleshoots all instruments as directed by SectionCoordinator.
+ Participates in hospital initiatives and in department goals set by the Laboratory Director and Manager
What qualifications you will need:
+ Associate degree; Graduatefroma NCCLS accredited Medical Technician program.
+ Hospital laboratory experience preferred.
