Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Molecular Technologist II for our MALDI Lab located in Newark, DE.
The work hours for this role are Monday - Friday 10:00 am- 6:30 pm.
The Lab-Molecular Technologist will Process customer samples in the microbiology laboratory utilizing the various technology platforms including but not limited to bacterial 16S rDNA and fungal ITS2 sequencing, MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and ribotyping. Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and GMP compliance.
The following are responsibilities related to the Molecular Technologist II:
⢠Conduct accurate processing of customer samples in accordance with current SOPs.
⢠Receive, unpack, log, and subculture customer samples according to current SOPs.
⢠Aliquot and prepare reagents.
⢠Perform test streaks for isolation, PCR, sequencing of customer samples and other laboratory processes including but not limited to mass spectrometry and ribotyping.
⢠Perform continual maintenance, repair and cleaning of all laboratory equipment.
⢠Perform pipette verification.
⢠Operate and maintain laser cutter.
⢠Provide backup for all laboratory functions when needed.
⢠Dispose of microbe cultures, chemicals and glass in proper waste containers.
⢠Collaborate with technical support to resolve discrepancies with customer samples.
⢠Comply with all aspects of laboratory safety, safety stations, safety manuals, safety SOP, and MSDS sheets.
⢠Suggest process improvements.
⢠Perform or support special projects in the lab when needed.
⢠Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
The following are minimum requirements related to the Molecular Technologist II position:
Bachelor's Degree (B.A. /B.S.) or Associates Degree in Microbiology or related discipline required.
Preferred experience as Medical Laboratory Technologist/ Medical Laboratory Scientist
3-5 years of experience in Microbiology (Clinical or Public Health environment preferred)
Experience with Microbiology Culture Techniques (Understanding in Microbiology Agars, Microbiology Colony Morphology, Mixed Cultures or Mixed samples)
Experience with LIMS systems (example: Citrix)
Must have ability to work in a fast paced and team oriented work/lab environment.

Qualifications:

Medical Laboratory Scientist with experience in Molecular Diagnostics
to perform genetic testing and associated activities to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients
We have one day shift position available. The work schedule:
10:30am - 7:00pm.
(Every third weekend and two to three holidays per year required.)
Responsibilities:
Performs all test procedures accurately as listed in the Molecular Diagnostic procedure manual.
Verifies specimen identification, processes order, adheres to established turnaround times, documents call, and verifies critical values.
Follows established quality control procedures, documenting corrective action as necessary.
Performs and records all scheduled instrument preventive maintenance procedures. Performs basic troubleshooting and calls appropriate hotlines, and documents.
Follows all CCHS and laboratory safety policies. Reviews laboratory safety manual annually.
Cooperates with supervisors and co-workers and maintains a good rapport with other departments. Presents a professional, well-groomed appearance always. Answers the telephone courteously and promptly.
Requirements:
BS in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science required or BS in Biology or Biochemistry with 1-2 years of Experience with Molecular techniques such as PCR or sequencing required.
MS preferred.
ASCP eligible or equivalent
Knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and procedures
Knowledge of infection control techniques and procedures
Ability to coordinate simultaneous tests and procedures with accuracy
Skill in the use of automated laboratory equipment

+ If MT (ASCP) or MLS(ASCP), no experience is necessary, although previous experience in particular field may be required. If baccalaureate degree in biological or chemical science, one-year relevant clinical laboratory experience or equivalent is required. Laboratory Information System experience, preferably Cerner, desirable.
+ Performance of routine and highly specialized analytical procedures requires a high level of skill and use of independent judgement in performance and evaluation of all procedures. Job Summary

Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience
B.S. or M.S. in Biology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering or related discipline.
Hands-on experience in molecular biology or immunology laboratory techniques, e.g. ELISA (sample preparation, plate coating, and data analysis), qPCR, TR-FRET, Western blot, etc.
Minimum 1-2 years of industry and academia working experience.
Preferred Qualifications - Education and Experience
Prior work in a regulated lab environment (GLP/ ISO9001/ISO17025) is advantageous but not mandatory.
Strong ELISA and/or TR-FRET experience preferred.
