Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor of Science in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical, or biological science OR Associate degree in chemical, physical/biological science, or medical laboratory, or equivalent education and training OR be an individual that performed high complexity testing on or before April 24th, 1995, with a high school diploma or equivalent. A Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing a full range of laboratory testing and reporting laboratory findings to physicians. The skills requirements for a Medical Technician I include: Occupational Specific, Technical Skills, Personal and Professional. AHA's MLT must meet the personnel responsibilities per CLIA Sec. 493.1495: Standard Testing personnel responsibilities.

Essential Functions
Knowledgeable in all areas of the clinical laboratory: blood bank, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, serology/immunology, and urinalysis

Position Requirements
Satisfaction of CLIA requirements for personnel performing moderately and highly complex testing including the following:
Associate degree or equivalent defined as:
a. 60 semester hours including 24 hours of medical laboratory technology
courses or 24 semester hours of science courses, including 6 hours each of
chemistry and biology, and 12 hours in chemistry, biology or medical
laboratory technology, or any combination; and
b. Completion of an accredited clinical laboratory or medical laboratory training
program, which may be included in the 60 semester hours specified above or
3 months documented training in each specialty in which the individual
performs high complexity testing.
OR
Completion of a 50 week U.S. Military medical laboratory training program or graduation from a medical laboratory or accredited clinical laboratory training program may replace the Associate degree described above.
AND
Passage of the certification exam for MLT (AMT) or MLT (ASCP) or is eligible to sit for and must pass the exam within 6 months of hiring.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm
Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Casual, PRN & Part Time employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours are eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan only. Job Responsibilities:
* Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
* Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
* Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
* Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
* Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
* Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
* Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
* Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
* Assist with processing of specimens when needed
* Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
* Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience is required OR a MLS degree is required
* ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
* Strong phlebotomy skills highly preferred
* Ability to work independently and within a team environment
* Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
* High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
* Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
* Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
