Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities: May assist in preparation of grant proposals, submissions, publications and presentations but is not responsible for generating grant funds. Participate in publications and presentations as author or co-author. Designs and performs experiments, especially in regards to stem cell culture. One California Job Summary and Responsibilities The incumbent will perform pre-analytic, analytic and in some cases post-analytic laboratory duties such as chemical, microscopic, and/or bacteriologic tests and verifies results for use in the diagnosis and/or treatment of disease. Demonstrates competency in patient testing for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. May have access to medication storage areas in accordance with their job functions and hospital policy, or be required to distribute needles or syringes from storage locations, such as large stock supplies, automated dispensing units and other carts to/within patient care areas or treatment carts as defined by hospital policy/procedure. Performs specimen processing and testing using standard lab practices and quality control. Maintains compliance with: Environmental safety, Infection Control, Emergency Response/Disaster Participates in departmental performance improvement and quality assurance activities. Understands how they relate to their position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Adjusts daily work assignments to meet the demands of the department. Demonstrates a working knowledge of the technical aspects of the laboratory; e.g., proper maintenance of equipment, interpretation of data, etc. Per the scope of license, trainee can only review and perform patient testing. Properly uses and maintains tools and equipment in compliance with department and hospital policies and standards. Supervises phlebotomists, offers suggestions and provides guidance, as needed.
