POSITION SUMMARY
Our Medication Technicians (Med Tech/CMA) provide compassionate, direct care to our residents, assisting them with medication administration and activities of daily living, in accordance with their personalized medication and treatment plans. TYPICAL DUTIES
Makes a variety of microbiological examinations of specimens such as feces, urine, sputum and body fluids, including initial isolation of organisms, identification of organisms, antibiotic susceptibility testing of the organism and identification of parasites.
Makes biochemical analyses of blood and other fluids to determine the quantitative presence of creatinine, glucose, protein, calcium and other chemical components.
Makes qualitative biochemical and microscopic analyses of urine specimens.
Performs hematological examinations such as complete blood counts, differential counts, sedimentation rates, coagulation studies, platelet and reticulocyte counts, and bone marrow preparations.
Performs immunohematological examinations such as blood typing and cross matching.

Participates in developmental work for new tests and procedures.
Performs quality control procedures, equipment maintenance, and recordkeeping as required in the performance of tests and examinations; may assume responsibility for specialized tasks such as quality control reporting.
May act as lead worker over other laboratory employees and laboratory trainees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Experience: One-year equivalent to Clinical Laboratory Scientist I in San Joaquin County.
Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health.
Special Requirement: When assigned to the Microbiology Unit, a valid license as a Clinical Microbiologist Scientist may substitute for the CLS issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health. KNOWLEDGE The principles, methods, materials, techniques and terminology of biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, hematology, immunohematology, and clinical microscopy as related to medical technology; recent developments, current literature, current regulations and policies, and sources of information in medical technology. Sick Leave: 12 working days of sick leave annually with unlimited accumulation.
Sick leave incentive
: An employee is eligible to receive eight hours administrative leave if the leave balance equals at least one- half of the cumulative amount that the employee is eligible to accrue. The employee must also be on payroll during the entire calendar year.
Bereavement Leave: 3 days of paid leave for the death of qualifying family member, 2 additional days of accrued leave for death of employee's spouse, domestic partner, parent or child.
Merit Salary Increase: New employees will receive the starting salary, which is the first step of the salary range. After employees serve 52 weeks (2080 hours) on each step of the range, they are eligible for a merit increase to the next step.
Job Sharing: Employees may agree to job-share a position, subject to approval by a Department Head and the Director of Human Resources.
Educational Reimbursement Program: Eligible employees may be reimbursed for career-related course work up to a maximum of $850 per fiscal year. Eligible employees enrolled in an approved four (4) year College or University academic program may be reimbursed up to $800 per semester for a maximum of $1600 per fiscal year.
Parking Supplemental Downtown Stockton: The County contributes up to $20 per pay period for employees who pay for parking and are assigned to work in the Downtown Core Area.
School Activities: Employees may take up to 40 hours per year, but not more than eight (8) hours per month, to participate in their children's school activities.
Selection Procedures
Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will go through the following examination process:
Written Exam: The civil service written exam is a multiple choice format. If the written exam is administered alone, it will be 100% of the overall score. Candidates must achieve a minimum rating of 70% in order to be placed on the eligible list.
Oral Exam: The oral exam is a structured interview process that will assess the candidate's education, training, and experience and may include a practical exercise. The oral exam selection process is not a hiring interview. A panel of up to four people will determine the candidate's score and rank for placement on the eligible list. Top candidates from the eligible list are referred for hiring interviews. If the oral exam is administered alone, it will be 100% of the overall score. Candidates must achieve a minimum rating of 70% in order to be placed on the eligible list.
Written & Oral Exam: If both a written exam and an oral exam is administered, the written exam is weighted at 60% and the oral exam is weighted at 40% unless otherwise indicated on the announcement. Candidates must achieve a minimum rating of 70% on each examination in order to be placed on the eligible list.
Rate-out: A rate-out is an examination that involves a paper rating of the candidate's application using the following criteria: education, training, and experience. Candidates will not be scheduled for the rate-out process.
Note: The rating of 70 referred to may be the same or other than an arithmetic 70% of the total possible points.
Testing Accommodation: Candidates who require testing accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) must call Human Resources Division at ************** prior to the examination date.
Veteran's Points: Eligible veterans, unmarried widows and widowers of veterans of the United States Armed Forces who have been honorably discharged and who have served during wartime shall be given veteran's points in initial appointment to County service. Eligible veterans receive 5 points and eligible disabled veterans receive 10 points. Disabled veterans must submit a recent award letter stating a 10% service connected disability issued by the United States Veterans Administration. Assures availability of supplies, materials, and equipment needed for laboratories; and provides training for instructors and new technicians in stockroom operation. Prepares and issues materials and equipment for student use; and cleans, sterilizes, performs minor repairs to, adjusts, and maintains laboratory and stockroom equipment. Trains and provides direction to student help as assigned; operates a variety of equipment related to the science lab and stockroom; orders, receives, and stores supplies, materials, and equipment; communicates results of tests and analyses; and prepares and maintains various records and reports related to laboratory operations, including records of storeroom expenditures and consumable materials use. Biology:
Prepares and maintains microbial cultures and media; prepares solutions; handles living organisms; works with preserved organisms; moves and relocates biological models; operates autoclaves; cleans lab and stockroom glassware and equipment; and uses dissecting tools.
Chemistry:
Prepares materials for instructors including solutions, solids, unknowns, and associated demonstration materials; prepares standard volumetric solutions and reagents used in labs; tests and analyzes chemical and physical properties of liquids, solids, and gasses; maintains a chemical library for students to check out various items needed for their labs or homework; assigns lockers each semester to the various labs; performs minor maintenance and keeps inventory on lockers and usage; maintains breakage cards for instructors in order to monitor glassware breakage and shortages.
Physics:
Prepares equipment and materials for instructors; assembles items for demonstration and lab use; repairs equipment using basic electronics skill; calculates data to compare with expected values; maintains sensors and probes; and may work with nuclear materials.
Minimum Qualifications
EXPERIENCE:One year of responsible and successful work experience in a science laboratory or stockroom, or equivalent training.
EDUCATION:Completion of two years of college education, with 19 semester units in Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics. NOTE: Additional experience or education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience or education.

POSITION SUMMARY
Our Medication Technicians (Med Tech/CMA) provide compassionate, direct care to our residents, assisting them with medication administration and activities of daily living, in accordance with their personalized medication and treatment plans. *Currently Hiring for Full-time and part-time on the 2nd (evening) and 3rd (NOC) shifts.*
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist residents with the daily administration of prescribed medication, including self-administration, as outlined in their individual care plan.
Follow documentation protocols and report any changes in resident status.
Assist in managing medication inventory and proper storage conditions, and coordinate medication re-orders and deliveries with pharmacies as necessary.
Provide compassionate care and support with activities of daily living to the residents in a team setting as needed.
Prioritize independence and provide emotional support to the residents by providing continuous engagement and companionship.
Encourage and assist with participation in life enrichment activity programs.
Promote open communication between healthcare professionals, families, residents, and staff.
Requirements
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Current First Aid and CPR license or ability to obtain.
Experience, Competencies, and Skills:
