The primary responsibility of the Cath Lab Tech is to provide assistance with patient care in the cardiac catheterization lab (CCL) through the provision of technical assistance to the cardiac catheterization team.
Provides direct, safe, competent and quality patient care in the Interventional Cardiology department.
Assists in the performance of various invasive cardiac or peripheral vascular diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Sustains a high level of patient care by communication with the patients, families, and physicians and co-works to address the physical, general and psychosocial needs of the patient.
Functions under the direction and immediate supervision of the cardiologist/radiologist performing the procedure.
Assists cardiologist during procedures by operating ancillary equipment, anticipating and obtaining catheters, wires and other necessary inventory and medications as ordered.
Assure compliance with federal, state, and local technical and professional regulations and accepted practiced guidelines.
Delivers quality, cost-effective patient care in a professional manner.
Works effectively to maintain an environment of excellence, which is patient-focused, providing timely, compassionate, quality patient care.
Promotes and maintains a safe work environment for both staff and customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.

REPORTS TO: The Laboratory Technician reports directly to the Laboratory Manager, with dotted-line reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager (QAM).
A Laboratory Technician (Tech) is a bench chemistry associate whose main responsibility is to perform routine operations within a laboratory setting. This includes preparing reagents, cleaning glassware, organizing and sorting supplies, and logging in samples. The Tech may also be specialized in one type of analysis for the purposes of improving laboratory workflow. The Tech is responsible for following all documented procedures, recording all laboratory notes, and elevating technical issues to the laboratory manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
o Ensure that all samples received by the laboratory are logged in according to the appropriate procedure including labeling, logging, and acknowledging
o Maintain a clean and organized lab space
o Prepare reagents at the direction of the Laboratory Manager
o Perform a specific analysis, or portion of analysis, at the direction of the Laboratory Manager
o Report non-conformances to the QAM and Laboratory Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
o HS Diploma or GED equivalent. Associates Degree or higher in a physical science preferred.
o General familiarity with laboratory safety. Previous laboratory experience preferred.
o Ability to follow written or verbal instructions
o Intermediate skill level (or above) in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
o Professional appearance and behavior

The Immunology Lab performs a wide range of unique assays from a variety of specialty clinics. We offer autoantibody testing, as well as run electrophoresis, IFA, allergy and ELISA assays, as well as many other manual and automated tests. We also do a CSF specific transferrin test, which runs electrophoresis and immunofixation on a body fluid in parallel with serum to check for CSF leakage. Additionally, we work in conjunction with the Dr. Nghiem Lab, which is the only lab in the world that currently runs the Anti-Merkel Cell Panel for Merkel Cell Carcinoma.

**What you'll need:**
_Requirements for an MLS Trainee_ :
+ Accredited bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science OR equivalent education/experience AND
+ Eligible to take the Medical Laboratory Scientist or categorical certification examination from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) within 18 months from date of hire. Failure to attain the certification within 18 months of date of hire may result in a recommendation for termination.
_Requirements for an MLS 1_ :
+ Accredited bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science OR equivalent education/experience AND
+ Current Medical Laboratory Scientist certification with the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent certifying organization OR certification with specialty organization appropriate to the laboratory division AND
+ One (1) year of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist Trainee. Up to one (1) year of on-the-job experience performing clinical testing in a Medical Laboratory Science Program externship may count toward the experience requirement.

The Clinical Lab Technologist position will be responsible for processing medically relevant biological samples through extraction and/or high throughput next-generation DNA sequencing assays. This role will work within a team of Laboratorians in a fast-paced, high production setting to process research and clinical diagnostic samples to provide test results to patients, oncologists and other medical practitioners and researchers. DEPARTMENT: Laboratory WORK HOURS: As assigned REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Manager or Director Laboratory PREREQUISITES: * Certification by ASCP, AMT or NCA as a Medical Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist; or a bachelor's degree with equivalent Certification. * ASCP, AMT or NCA Registry eligible Medical Technologists or Clinical Laboratory Scientists will be considered but must receive their certification within twelve (12) months of hire. * Must provide proof of academic diploma, transcript, or primary source verification (PSV) report confirming credentials. QUALIFICATIONS: * One (1) year of recent hospital or Clinical Reference lab experience as a generalist performing moderate to high complexity tests is preferred. * Ability to prioritize workload and assist co-workers as needed to meet established turnaround times. * Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills in a diverse population. * Demonstrates good decision making and problem-solving skills. * Able to communicate effectively in oral and written form in the English language. UNIQUE PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS: * Frequent exposure to blood and body fluids * Possible exposure to infectious specimens, communicable diseases, toxic substances, and other conditions common to a laboratory environment. * Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment, PPE, as appropriate. * Frequent interaction with a diverse population including team members and other customers. * Requires occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: * Generic Job Functions: See Generic Job Description for Clinical Partner. * Essential Responsibilities and Competencies: * Performs all STAT and routine clinical testing according to established standards and completes analysis within established time frames 90% of the time. * Performs, records and reviews Quality Control Analysis according to established standards and takes appropriate corrective action when there is a variance in QC. * Performs proficiency testing such as CAP surveys. * Maintains and troubleshoots instruments and equipment and document such according to established protocols. * Reviews and evaluates lab reports for clarity, accuracy, timeliness. * Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and take necessary corrective action according to established protocols. * Participates in the review and revision of policies and procedures. * Receives all reagents and supplies according to standards. * Participates in specimen procurement, specimen handling and specimen processing. * Participates in the orientation of students and new employees. * Perform as lead tech when requested or required.
