Performing a variety of moderate and highly complex and diagnostic laboratory testing under general supervision in the laboratory.
May perform specialized procedures in special laboratory sections unique to each laboratory's discipline.
Evaluating whether the results are abnormal/critical and takes appropriate action internally/externally according to laboratory guidelines.
Recording results of tests with all supporting documentation for clinical interpretation.
Performing regularly scheduled quality control, preventative maintenance, and calibration of equipment according to laboratory guidelines. Performs all troubleshooting and repair.
Participating in department continuing education including training program expanding scope of knowledge.
Providing general assistance to less experienced laboratory personnel.
Communicating principle/theory to physicians and other professional staff.
Ensuring accurate test results by following good lab practices. Can identify problems as if unsure of resolution seeks appropriate assistance.
Performing a variety of special projects and additional work as needed/assigned.
Observing guides, verifying and checks documentation of less experienced lab personnel.
Training and teaching laboratory personnel and others. Contributes to the continuing education program
May act as lead in absence of supervisor/manager. May prepare schedule or draft procedures.
Performing a variety of moderate to highly complex and specialized diagnostic laboratory testing.

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree AND successful completion of an ASCP/NAACLS accredited Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science program required
Bachelor's Degree AND successful completion of an ASCP/NAACLS accredited Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science program preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of Clinical Lab Science experience required
5 years Clinical lab experience preferred
Certification:
National certification preferred
Certification required for related science degreed individuals

Sunday - Wednesday: 8:30pm- 7:00am, including rotating holidays

Summary
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II, in their role as Testing Personnel as defined by CLIA, may perform waived and non-waived testing. Under general supervision, carries out all policies and performs all tests in accordance with the department's standard operating procedures. Works independently in an efficient and organized manner to assure accurate results and records. The work requires a professional level of knowledge to read and interpret accurately test results used by providers in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II, in their role as General Supervisor as defined by CLIA, may be delegated the responsibility of the day-to-day supervision or oversight of the laboratory operations and personnel performing testing and reporting results. Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager and Clinical Supervisors, the Medical Laboratory Scientist II is responsible for supervision of assigned workstations including Quality Control (QC) review, training, competency assessment of staff, and inventory management. The testing personnel are responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and for reporting test results. Each individual performs only those tests that are authorized by the laboratory director and require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual's education, training or experience, and technical abilities.

As outlined by CLIA, after successful completion of orientation, training and competency assessment on all instruments/methods applicable to their role:
Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
Follow the laboratory's established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical consultant, technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or director.
Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
* Associate's Degree in Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science program required
* Bachelor's Degree AND successful completion of an ASCP/NAACLS accredited Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science program preferred.
Experience:
* 2+ years Clinical laboratory experience with an Associate's degree OR
* No experience with Bachelor's degree in a science program with the ASCP certification
Certification/Registration Preferred:
* National certification preferred

IDEXX BioAnalytics' scientific expertise takes a novel approach to the discovery of new diagnostic tests that supplement a robust portfolio of products and services. We partner with Pharma, BioTech, and Academia (the scientific community) to improve animal and human health.
In This Role:
You will be using automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases in support of the scientific community.
You will be performing diagnostic tests on blood samples that we receive in our lab by the hundreds every day.
You will be responsible for setting up and running lab tests and reading and releasing results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
You can expect to specialize in one or more of the following areas:
Hematology
: Testing cell-related components of blood samples to enumerate and identify their cellular components, including the microscopic evaluation of blood smears and the use of automated and manual counting techniques.
Chemistry / Endocrinology
: Testing blood and body fluids for various analytes, utilizing automated instrumentation.
Urinalysis
: Analysis and evaluation of chemical and microscopic components of urine samples, using automated instrumentation and manual techniques.
What You'll Need To Succeed:
You will have experience working in a laboratory.
Experience setting up, running, and reading lab test and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes and / or clinical diagnostic analyzers), and micro - pipetting skills is a must
Candidates must have Hematology and Chemistry background/skillset
You possess a 4 - year degree in a Science-related field
You have a positive attitude and love to bring that energy into the lab every day to support your colleagues

You have a great sense of team spirit and responsibility
Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab - standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability - close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
This is a laboratory, so there is potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.

Schedule:
The regular hours for this position are: 2PM - 10 : 30 PM (2nd shift position)
The regular schedule for this position is: Monday - Friday with an alternating Saturday
The training schedule for this position will be Monday - Friday 9am - 5:30pm
Training schedule is on 1st shift until completion, then your regular schedule will be on 2nd shift
The shifts and hours may vary slightly depending on business needs.

Job Summary Overview
In a highly regulated environment (FDA, AABB, TJC, DPH, CMS, NRC), the Blood Bank Technologist plays a critical role in ensuring patients receive the necessary blood products. This position involves performing testing, processing blood products, and maintaining compliance with the department's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Key Responsibilities
Blood Bank Operations
Process specimens, fill orders, issue blood products, and minimize wastage.
Handle phone inquiries and collaborate with other departments.

Laboratory Testing & Quality Control
Perform critical tests, including ABO/Rh typing, antibody screening, compatibility testing, direct antiglobulin tests, and transfusion reaction investigations.
