Job Summary

Responsibilities

Qualifications
Bachelors degree in laboratory or biological sciences required.
Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible. Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment. If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice. Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Job Responsibilities:
Testing and Analysis:

Quality Control:

Equipment Operation:

Maintain and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions; calibrate equipment and prepare laboratory reagents.
Specimen Collection:
Collect laboratory specimens through direct patient contact and advise healthcare personnel on proper collection procedures.
Perform phlebotomies, capillary punctures, and venipunctures.
Development and Consultation:
Participate in the development of new laboratory procedures.
Assist supervisors in consulting with other medical personnel on technical aspects of clinical laboratory tests.
Integrate test results to make judgments regarding discrepancies and confirm abnormal results.
Rotation Duties:
Rotate on weekend, holiday, and on-call duty; responsible for lab work received during these periods.
Supervision (Post-Evaluation):
After 6 months of orientation and 2 years of non-waived testing experience:
Provide supervision and consultation to testing personnel performing non-waived tests.
Monitor test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
Additional Responsibilities:
Promote a culture of safety to improve employee safety within the facility and department.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Performs clinical laboratory testing in the following areas: blood banking, microbiology, serology, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis. Obtains or receives specimens, performs clinical laboratory procedures, preventive maintenance, and quality control. Interprets results as to accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits. Works independently, organizing work to meet established deadlines, records all data obtained, and maintains job competence. Full-time, benefited position working 72 - 80 hours per two week pay period. Days of work are variable Sunday - Saturday and shifts include morning and evening rotations as well as nights as needed. Weekend work is every fourth weekend, and holiday work is every third or fourth. Night call is as needed
JOB FUNCTIONS
Collects and processes specimens according to laboratory policy.
Performs clinical laboratory test procedures. Evaluates results and reports results to proper unit.
Performs quality control as specified. Analyzes quality control data. Makes decisions regarding accepting/rejecting of patient results based on quality control data.
Responsible for continually seeking ways to improve assess and improve quality.

Requirements
PREPARATION AND TRAINING Medical Technologist/MLS/CLS: Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology or related science with 12 months of clinical education in an approved school of medical technology. Must be currently registered or eligible for registration as a MT/MLS/CLS(ASCP) or equivalent. Must currently hold or be eligible for ND Licensure. BLS certified for CPR. Position is required to attend Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training in the appropriate timeframe according to department orientation checklist. Medical Technologist (HEW) - successful completion of a qualifying exam offered by the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Six to 12 months in a hospital training program.
ATTENDANCE: Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at JRMC. Employee are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working. Employees are also expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule.
ANALYTICAL ABILITY: Performs laboratory procedures, including instrument operation. Recognizes factors affecting measurement of test results. Recognizes results that are abnormal or deviate from those expected. Analyses quality control data, makes judgements concerning the results, and takes appropriate actions to maintain accuracy and precision of test results. Prioritizes workload.
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT: Performs a variety of tasks under minimal supervision that require independent judgement.

You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and will perform as a plasma donor screener and perform phlebotomy to support plasma center operations.
How you will contribute:
* You will answer phones, and greet and focus on our donors, while ensuring the safety of donors and our team.
* You will screen new and repeat donors and take and record donor vital signs and finger stick results.
* You will use our Donor Information System, prepare donor charts, maintain accurate records, and coordinate donor compensation.
* You will help identify operational opportunities for continuous improvement and initiate changes to center processes using company approved procedures.
* You will be there for our donors, which includes working a variety of shifts, Saturdays and Sundays, and holidays.
What you bring to Takeda:

Laboratory Technologist 1
The Laboratory Technologist 1 position is an entry-level position into the role. Laboratory Technologist 1's are able to competently and successfully complete the job requirements as specified below. This role is required to participate in an on-call rotation, work a rotational schedule, and support the satellite laboratories.
Laboratory Technologist 2
The Laboratory Technologist 2 position is an intermediate position awarded to Laboratory Technologists who have a proven track record of level 1 tasks, as well as independently completing Soil Stabilization service line testing and reporting, in addition to completing all tests in the Laboratory SPOs and interpreting the results. Laboratory Technologist 3
The Laboratory Technologist 3 position is a senior, specialized position awarded to Laboratory Technologists who have a proven track record of competently and successfully performing all level 1 and level 2 tasks for the Oilfield Cementing, Fluid Services, and Soil Stabilization service lines. This role will act as a mentor to Laboratory Technologist 1 and 2's. This role is required to participate in an on-call rotation.
Job Responsibilities
Entry-Level Laboratory Tasks
Learn, understand, and apply the basics of cement blends and additives, including calculations.
Log all field samples and experimental products.
Complete reports and enter test data, as required.
Operate and maintain all laboratory equipment and inventory.
Conduct the safe handling, storage, and disposal of samples, chemicals, and other materials.
Assist with soil stabilization testing for Magnum's Infrastructure service line.
Conduct quality control testing for the lab and field cement samples, including weighing the cement, additives, and water.
Intermediate Laboratory Tasks
Coordinate internal testing of samples (cement blend formulations) upon request.
Conduct and complete all lab tests as per departmental SOP's. Complete and summarize reports and interpret test data.
Independently conduct soil stabilization testing for Magnum's Infrastructure service line, maintaining reporting and issuing recommendations, as applicable.
Obtain and apply a greater understanding of all laboratory maintenance, cement blend calculations, and products, interactions, blends, and operations.
Maintain, operate, calibrate, and install all equipment in the lab.
Troubleshoot products and blends, as required.
Maintain the testing database, ensuring accuracy.
Assist with maintaining all departmental marketing materials (product pages, blend pages, handbooks).
Assist with departmental research and development projects. Maintain and update project summaries.
Perform and act as a backfill on entry-level laboratory tasks.
Senior Laboratory Tasks
Manage and prioritize lab testing for the department, delegating to the team as required.
Schedule equipment maintenance and track all parts and the associated cost.
Ensure that all departmental data (test data, SDS database, laboratory testing SOP's, product information and specifications, lab calculators, etc.) is captured, maintained, and updated regularly.
Maintain all departmental marketing materials (product pages, blend pages, handbooks) and participate in presentations with the Sales department.
Review lab reports for accuracy and completeness.
Conduct training presentations for the post-secondary institutions Magnum participates with.
Manage departmental research and development projects. Maintain and update project summaries.
Maintain a thorough understanding of products, interactions, blends, and operations.
Develop test parameters to evaluate Magnum's product lines, evaluating opportunities for improvement or efficiencies.
Assist with soil stabilization testing for Magnum's Infrastructure service line, as needed.
