Working Conditions: Environment The majority of the work is performed in a compact laboratory setting with somewhat limited maneuverable space. The laboratory is situated adjacent to a man-made water conveyance channel within an active fish collection facility with heavy machinery and moving vehicles; This job operates in a field laboratory (ie, non-office) environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, hand-held devices; This job will require some work outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, and moving vehicles and equipment. The Lab Technician I will prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. The Lab Technician I works independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. The Lab Technician I always follows safe laboratory practices and maintains a safe working environment. Job Functions After appropriate training independently prepares samples for analysis according to SGS' analytical SOPs using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of prep instruments/equipment May assist with validation and MDL studies. Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations. Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable. Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures. Performs other duties as required.
