    *Please note that this position will be required to train in Dowagiac, MI at Pokagon Health Services for the first few months. Dispense drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and provide information and education to patients about medications and their use. Advise physicians and other health practitioners on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medications. Essential Functions: Receive written, oral prescriptions, e-scribe or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate, ascertain the needed ingredients, and evaluate their safety for intended patient. Process prescription orders, process insurance claims, and count/fill medications as necessary. Assess the identity, strength, or purity of medications and maintain proper storage and security conditions for all medication per Federal Regulations. Answer phone calls and respond to questions or requests. Oversee daily functions of pharmacy technicians to ensure accuracy in preparing/filling prescriptions. Dispense/verify medications prescribed by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, as necessary. Monitor drug therapies and evaluate for quality, effectiveness of drugs, drug interactions and contraindications. Assist with clinical inquiries and provide clinical medication advice to Medical Providers, including interpreting lab values and cultures and sensitivities to recommend best medication for clinical diagnosis. Educate and mentor pharmacy technicians to be effective team members. Motivate team members to perform to their highest level. Competent and knowledgeable of Meijer Policies and Procedures as well as state and federal laws. Effective communication skills and agent of change. Excellent organization skills with the ability to prioritize workload. Listen to the patient and resolve patient's needs, customer service. In the absence of the pharmacist in charge, will be responsible for the pharmacy operations. What You Bring With You (Qualifications): Bachelor of Science Degree or Doctorate of Pharmacy. Registered and licensed in the state of practice. Certified Immunization Pharmacist (except Indiana) Retail/Community Practice. Working knowledge of pharmacy system, working knowledge of policies and procedures, understanding of regulatory in the state the unit operates.
