About the Role:
As a Therapist within our Health Care Services team in Montgomery, AL, you will play a pivotal role in supporting individuals and families through various mental health challenges. Your primary objective will be to provide compassionate, evidence-based therapeutic interventions that promote emotional well-being and resilience. You will work collaboratively with clients to assess their needs, develop personalized treatment plans, and facilitate individual and group therapy sessions. This role demands a deep understanding of psychological principles and the ability to apply diverse therapeutic techniques to address issues such as crisis situations, behavioral health concerns, and life transitions. Ultimately, your work will contribute to improving the quality of life for clients by fostering healthier coping mechanisms and emotional growth.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree or higher in Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or a related mental health field required.
Professional licensure is required. If not, must be qualified to make application for ALC, LPC, LMSW, LICSW, or LMFT licensure within 90 days of hire.
Demonstrated experience in providing psychotherapy and mental health counseling.
Strong knowledge of crisis intervention and behavioral health management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse client populations.
If recovering, three years of continuous verifiable sobriety.
Preferred Qualifications:
EMDR Training.
Experience working with group therapy and family therapy modalities.
Specialized training or certification in anger management or life transitions counseling.
Familiarity with evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Experience in a healthcare or community mental health setting.
Bilingual abilities or experience working with culturally diverse populations.
Responsibilities:
Conduct a comprehensive Psychosocial Assessment.
Evaluate and integrate assessment findings from all disciplines and databases into a clinical summary.
Transform issues identified in the treatment focus of the clinical summary into treatment plans with specific goals, objectives and corresponding treatment interventions.
Clearly and legibly document the patient's clinical course of treatment, in the progress notes.
Manage and coordinate the patient's work on treatment objectives while keeping the patient, clinical team, payers, and referral sources involved and/or informed of the patient's progress or lack of progress as appropriate.
Formulate and document a discharge summary that summarizes significant findings, course and progress of the patient with regard to each identified clinical problem, course of treatment and the final assessment of patient's condition initially, during treatment and at discharge.
Integrate working knowledge of 12-Step Programs and Principles into the therapeutic process and treatment plan while maintaining a professional treatment focus.
Manage caseload, documentation requirements and treatment delivery responsibilities in a professional and acceptable manner.
Conduct individual counseling sessions appropriate for the treatment of the addictive disorders.
Conduct group therapy sessions appropriate for the treatment of addictive disorders.
Conduct specialty groups that are relevant to addiction treatment.
Perform conjoint family counseling, integrating a complete understanding of the underlying dynamics of codependency and the effects of addiction of families.
Conduct basic education lectures and presentations relevant to addiction treatment.
Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance, must not appear impaired or disoriented, but rather must present coherent and articulate speech, kept appearance, alert, oriented, and responsive to patients' needs and concerns.
* Perform supervision, if assigned, and document supervision of supervisee according to policy and procedure
* Must be able to work in a cooperative manner with co-workers, managers, clients and prospective clients.
* Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness as to perform the job in a safe manner.

Work Schedule:

• Coordinate appropriate referrals to community and other Government agencies for services.

To provide voluntary, comprehensive prevention services (primarily home-based) to families to prevent the occurrence of family maltreatment.

Work Environment & Schedule:
This is an exempt, full-time position.
Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM CST
This position requires in-person work and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements.
Services are provided in school settings that may vary in physical accessibility.
This role requires periods of walking between classrooms/buildings, sitting for therapy sessions, and use of computers for documentation.
May require occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.

Respond to referrals for students in need of services, coordinating with the gatekeeper at the assigned schools and the families of the students.
Conduct initial intake interviews of clients according to established procedure, assessing the client's problems and needs, developing an initial diagnosis.
Develop treatment plans using information gathered in the intake assessment, initial goals for treatment.
Perform mental health evaluations or other therapeutic services at assigned locations.
Perform prehospitalization screenings either at the Mental Health Center or at other locations as needed.
Participate in training activities as required by Carastar Health to increase and enhance professional and therapeutic skills.
Conduct individual, group and family therapy sessions for individuals on caseload.
Participate in clinical supervision as required.
Update treatment plans as appropriate, reviewing objectives, goals and interventions.
Provide crisis intervention and assessments for clients seen on an emergency basis.

Degree and experience must meet requirements for Approved Medicaid Provider status.
Must hold a valid driver's license and maintain a driving record that is acceptable to Carastar's insurance carrier.
Must maintain at least liability coverage on personal vehicles.
