DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Perform the function of a mental health therapist by providing mental health services individually to each client on the team's caseload. Services include evaluation/assessment, individual and group therapy/counseling, medication monitoring and education, family services, and other clinical services, focusing on mental disorders, environmental stress and family relationships Provide assertive community treatment services to clients assigned to team. Participate in staffing of all assigned cases at least twice weekly with other treatment team members. Participate in clinical supervision as required. Participate in training activities as required by Carastar to increase and enhance professional and therapeutic skills. Conduct initial intake interviews of clients according to established procedure, assessing the client's problems and needs, and developing treatment plans using strength based, client-centered interventions. Update treatment plans as appropriate, reviewing objectives, goals and interventions. Provide crisis intervention and assessments for clients seen on an emergency basis. Responsibilities Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9 hours between 6:00am and 6:00pm, including a one hour lunch Core Duties: • Coordinate appropriate referrals to community and other Government agencies for services. • Independently assess the psychosocial functioning and needs of patients and their family members and formulate and implement a treatment plan, identifying the patient's problems, strengths, weaknesses, coping skills and assistance needed, in collaboration with the patient, family and interdisciplinary treatment team. • Independently conduct psychosocial assessments and provide psychosocial treatment to a wide variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, ethnic, educational and other diverse backgrounds. • Use medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities and treatment procedures. This includes acute, chronic and traumatic illnesses/injuries, common medications and their effects/side effects, and medical terminology. • Implement treatment modalities in working with individuals, families and groups who are experiencing a variety of psychiatric, medical and social problems to achieve treatment goals. • Independently provide counseling and/or psychotherapy services to individuals, groups, couples, and families. Must practice within the bounds of the license or certification. • Provide consultation services to other staff about the psychosocial needs of patients and the impact of psychosocial problems on health care and compliance with treatment. • Participate in professional peer review case conferences, research studies, or other organizations required at the MTF. Additional Duties: 5.1. Will perform walk-in duties on a rotational schedule. 5.2. Perform special evaluations on an as needed basis. 5.3. Provide training for junior providers/enlisted upon request. 5.4. See to improve the clinic by contributing to innovation. 5.5. Expected to seek evidenced based training/certificates for application of most up to date treatment modalities. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: * Degree/Education:Master's degree in social work (MSW). Graduate from a School of Social Work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). * Experience: Social Workers shall have a minimum of two (2) years within the past five (5) years in the independent practice of clinical social work for adults in an outpatient clinical setting * Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. * Life Support Certification: Possess current ARC or AHA BLS Healthcare Provider certification. * Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
