The Mental Health Clinician provides professional mental health assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, and treatment planning services to individuals in a correctional environment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Mental Health Clinician supports rehabilitation and recovery by addressing behavioral health needs in a secure correctional facility.

In 2020, we were honored as a Compassionate Champion for our dedication to serving youth and families using a trauma-informed approach.
Through DGS, clients and families have access to outpatient counseling, group therapy, parent-child interaction therapy, and school-based services. Our community-based service lines serve youth and families who require a more intense therapeutic protocol. DGS' 24-hour statewide Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS) dispatches skilled crisis intervention clinicians to provide immediate care to children experiencing behavioral health crises. Therapeutic options are available for a wide range of diagnoses including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, eating disorders, traumatic stress-related disorders, and suicidal ideation. In 2021, DGS clinicians provided over 54,000 direct care hours to children, youth, and families in Delaware. Summary/objective

The 7N inpatient behavioral health unit has 30 beds with an average length of stay under 8 days. The Senior Psych SocialWorker will assist patients and families to define social, emotional and environmental needs and to enable them to recognize/utilize available resources to resolve needs by providing a full spectrum of social work service. In addition, they will be responsible for the coordination of care, family therapy sessions, group therapy sessions, individual therapy sessions, safety planning, discharge planning, admission biopsychosocials, timely transmission of transition records, compliance with federal and state mandates for aftercare planning, treatment team, and support with involuntary commitments including court hearing.
Work Schedule:
Mondays to Fridays: 8:00am - 4:30pm
No weekends or holidays
Key Responsibilities:
Works with the patient, family, and other members of the health care team to safely and expeditiously return the patient to the appropriate post-acute setting.
Gathers and assesses information regarding the patient's physical needs, mental status, family support system, financial resources and available community and governmental resources.
Provides factual information based on current knowledge which may assist the patient/family in coping with the disease. Provides specific information on how to communicate with physicians and other Christiana Care staff so as to better utilize the system's resources.
Provides information about resources and options available in the community. Provides information concerning the availability and limitations of resources. Provides information on use of Christiana Care Health System. Describes the process of social work intervention at Christiana Care.
Represents patient/family by intervening, negotiating and promoting their concerns. Problems requiring advocacy may include individual and class inequities or inadequate and non-existent Christiana Care and/or community resources, i.e., insurance benefits, housing, etc.
Maintains pertinent and timely documentation in patient's medical charts and departmental records. Accurately maintains required departmental statistical data. Collects and maintains specific information required for performance improvement indicators and research projects.

Clinical therapists provide outpatient, individual, family, and group therapy to patients of Trauma Specialists with locations in Lewes and Milton, DE. Clinical therapy services include treatment of adults, adolescents, couples and families. Clinicians should have EMDR basic training or be willing to get the training shortly after being hired. Other treatment modalities such as IFS, DBT, Neurofeedback are also encouraged.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree in counseling or social work; and an active, unrestricted license (PhD, PsyD, LCSW, or LPCMH) in the State of Delaware.
Available to hold at least 25 patient sessions per week, provided such sessions are available and referred/scheduled by Trauma Specialists.
Have experience in treatment planning and excellent documentation.
Be compassionate, inclusive, self-motivated, and relatable (a great sense of humor is a plus!)
Have a desire to treat trauma effectively.
Other Qualification Preferences:
Prior experience in a private practice setting.
Have a specialization in treating trauma.
Current approval as an in-network provider with BCBS (or ability to be paneled) and other insurance providers.
Experience and/or certification in art therapy.
