The LCSW is responsible for conducting comprehensive diagnostic evaluations including clinical interviews and administering the standardized assessment tool, ADOS-2 and administering and ADIR for children suspected to have autism. This role includes direct administration of the assessment with the learner, engaging with families throughout the diagnostic process, and completing high-quality written reports that support accurate and timely diagnosis.
You make your own schedule, and work can be done remotely, except the ADOS appointment does need to be conducted at our Kalamazoo East center. Position requires LCSW to complete a minimum of 1 assessment per week with report writing (approx. 10 hours).
Key Responsibilities:

* Expends Specific Assistance monies by use of an agency credit card and checkbook.
* Attends Families First of Michigan trainings and other agency trainings as required.
* Provides 24/7 emergency availability for the 2 client families on this specialist's own caseload.

* Transports clients as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience:
* Master's degree in social work.
* Full approval by the Michigan Department of Education as a Licensed School Social Worker or have received a recommendation for temporary approval from a Michigan school of social work training program by obtaining an SSW-310 form.
* If full or temporary approval from MDE is not in place a waiver can be submitted to MDE allowing the social worker to enroll in the necessary classes to obtain the SSW-310.
* With the waiver in place, GRPS has agreed to waive the requirements under Article 14, Section J.1.a which requires two years of employment at GRPS before a GREA member is eligible for tuition reimbursement. This waiver only applies to the classes required to obtain the SSW-310 certification.
* Candidates that access tuition reimbursement will also be required to sign an agreement indicating they will remain employed by GRPS for three years after obtaining their SSW 310 certification. Reimbursement will be required if the candidate does not fulfill this requirement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide group and individual counseling sessions and classroom support to special education students as mandated per student IEPs, as well as progress monitor IEP goals associated with mandated services and participate in student IEP meetings.
Provide group and individual counseling sessions to general education students, as well as monitor the students' responses to the interventions identified.
Develop and monitor student responses to behavior intervention plans, including providing support and consultation to general and special education teachers.
Complete psychosocial assessments to assist in the determination of special education services.
Conduct functional behavior assessments and communicate the results to all team members in parent-friendly language
Complete risk assessments on students referred for school social work services.
Establish relationships with both students and parents and participate in all aspects of school planning.
Assist in identifying needed community resources for students and make appropriate referrals to resources to facilitate educational and behavioral interventions recommended for student success
Provide staff consultation on behavioral-emotional-environmental issues affecting student participation in the learning process and collaborate with school staff and other school system personnel in implementing strategies to promote student learning.
Provide crisis intervention services.
Maintain state-required clinical records and submit appropriate documents for statistical reports with adherence to program standards in school social work.
Qualifications:
Hold a master's degree in social work; exceptions apply in North Carolina and Ohio
Hold a valid social work license issued in the state you are applying for.
Candidates for positions in Michigan must have state approval as a school social worker.
Knowledge of special education processes and procedures is preferred.
Candidates with experience working with at-risk students is preferred if applicable to the school.
