Clinical systems analyst job description

: Under general direction, formulates and defines Epic EHR and integrated application system scope and objectives based on user needs, to create the comprehensive EHR solution for the Advance Population Health Core Strategy initiative including Care Coordination for both Acute and Post-Acute care. Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering technology capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results. Prepares detailed specifications from which systems can be configured or coded. Analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary. Competent to work on most phases of applications systems analysis activities but requires instruction and guidance in other phases. Works collaboratively with clinical and business owners to provide IT solutions that meet the needs of the areas involved.

Knowledgeable in all phases of the system development life cycle including development of use cases, workflows, and evaluation of software solutions

Assist users to identify current operating procedures and clarify business objectives to support Population Health initiatives for Beaumont Medical Group and independent practice

Apply application/system knowledge to work with customers to develop requirements to create technology solutions to meet the business needs

Technical build and support of CareQuality Platform products Happy Together, Healthy Planet Link to support shared patient data from diverse EHR systems and patient portals

Perform in depth analysis of application/system and develop solutions to meet business/customer requirements, compare and evaluate options and recommend a course of action

Assist in writing detailed description of users' business needs, program functions and steps required to develop or modify systems under general guidance

Analyze, design, build, code/configure, test, debug, and document all activities to support implementing and maintaining application systems under general direction

Assist in testing all aspects of a solution including correct results, integration, data and system integrity

Assure quality of work by coordinating review prior to implementation with appropriate written documentation

Recognize and advise leadership of concerns and/or issues, and provide appropriate follow up to identified issues

Create and maintain technical application documentation including test plans, application architecture diagrams, data flows, use cases and workflows
Participate in training the end users, providing 24 x 7 customer support and assisting colleagues Participate in an on-call rotation to provide off-hours end user support



STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS



Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education will be considered in lieu of a degree Minimum 2 years of Epic or other EHR/EMR systems analysis experience required, strong understanding of healthcare business process and technology preferred. Healthy Planet Analytics and Clinical Build, Compass Rose, Clinical Case Management, EpicCare Ambulatory or EpicCare Inpatient Clin Doc preferred Epic certification or comparable system certification preferred.


Other Qualifications:

A clinical background in any discipline is highly desired General knowledge of Population Health tools and strategies - Health Maintenance, Registries (Wellness, Opioid, HCC, ACO, Payer, etc), Roster Management Engine, Clinical Decision Support, Social Determinants of Health, Dashboards and Reporting Workbench Basic knowledge of Care Coordination (Acute and/or Post-Acute) workflows and supporting build Excellent analytical, organizational, and oral and written communication skills. The Clinical Systems Analyst (Medical Imaging) is the Systems Administrator/PACS Administrator for all Medical Imaging-based systems (McKesson PACS, Vital Imaging, PowerScribe, Peervue). This position also assists with Cerner Radnet. The Analyst will also be the Systems Administrator for the Cardiology Service Line (Cardiolgoy PACS) with a reporting component to the Cardiology Service Line Administrator. The Analyst is responsible for managing and maintaining the working integrity of the department's computer hardware, software, security, network connectivity and master files. Under the direction of the Senior Director, Medical Imaging the Analyst for will lead the coordination, design, integration and implementation of technology to support professional imaging practices. The Analyst will lead and implement special projects and strategic initiatives that optimize the use of technology to support imaging while achieving hospital organizational goals. Additionally the Analyst develops and designs data collection and retrieval methods for clinical, technical and managerial purposes. The Analyst is involved in the design, testing, training and maintenance of clinical imaging systems in a fully integrated computerized order entry system for Image Acquisition, Image Delivery, Image integration, Image presentation, Image reporting and Image retention. This position will work with Biomed and the Information Technologies departments in the management of the IT network as it relates to the above systems, associated hardware including servers and general support of peripheral devices(PC's, minor PC repair, Monitors, Dicom tagging, HL7 review during interfacing).
Qualifications

Education/Experience:
• Associates degree in Computer Science/Information Technology field or ARRT Radiologic Technologist
• Minimum of 2 years' experience working with Information Technology. Experience should include operations of networks (LANS, SANS, Novell), servers, PCs, Windows operating systems, interfacing, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Medical Imaging computer information systems including PACS, Voice Recognition, and Radiology Information Systems (RIS) preferred.

Skills/Abilities:
• The ability to utilize computer applications (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, and data base management) is required.
• Ability to learn new clinical computer applications readily and evaluate functionality/usefulness for the end-user.
• Basic knowledge of computer programming and analytical skills to optimize the use of electronic health and imaging record.
• Other required skills include strong interpersonal and written communication, problem solving, and the ability to organize multiple projects simultaneously.
• Effectively communicate with staff, department directors, physicians and occasionally students.
• Provide excellent customer service to end users.
• Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and implement productive IT system changes associated with the delivery of services.

Job Summary

Plans, organizes and coordinates the application support activities for two or more software applications. Is responsible for implementation of assigned new applications and ongoing system enhancements. Works under the supervision of higher-level Systems Analysts/Team Leader. Assist others in the implementation of applications and ongoing system maintenance and enhancements. Consults with and assists users in making the most effective use of computer applications. Performs tasks associated with Information Systems projects related to the analysis of user needs, system design, installation and enhancements to existing systems; meeting coordination, preparation of meeting materials, meeting minutes, and maintenance of application documentation. Monitors assigned application to assure that systems are functioning properly and take appropriate corrective action when system problems are detected.
