Our state-of-the-art facility, which opened in 2018, provides acute inpatient care for adults of all genders who have been struggling with bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other mental health concerns. We also serve adults who have a primary mental health diagnosis and a co-occurring substance use disorder. At River Place Behavioral Health, a team of experienced and compassionate professionals works closely with each patient to help them achieve stabilization so that they can return home or step down to a lower level of care. Conduct individual, group or family therapy as appropriate for the treatment plan of the patient. Conduct a psychosocial assessment and develop an initial discharge plan. Provide initial treatment planning for patient based on assessment and coordinate any additional services needed and revise as necessary. Maintain documentation of therapy services provided to each patient according to facility and professional standards, revising as necessary. Maintain a caseload as assigned. Participate in treatment team meetings and collaborate with other staff to facilitate services for the patient as appropriate to their treatment plan. May provide these services in an inpatient or outpatient setting. Provide case management, discharge planning or after-care planning according to treatment plan. May assist in educating and training staff on behavior management or therapeutic crisis intervention. May coordinate various clinical, psychosocial or educational activities with patient and their families. Evaluate patient's need and determine if referrals to other programs or facilities are needed. May assist in the training of new clinical staff and interns. Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority. This position entails providing treatment services to women with a substance use disorder. JOB DESCRIPTION This is a professional counseling position that involves the treatment of individuals with substance use disorders and other co-occurring conditions. Treatment involves facilitation of individual, group, and family counseling sessions, assessments, treatment planning, care coordination, case management services, discharge planning, and documentation. The clinician must possess expertise in counseling principles and techniques. Services are provided in accordance with recognized counseling principles and techniques and within the established policies, procedures and guidelines of the organization. The Clinician will work under the supervision of the Clinical Director and/or Clinical Supervisor. Position Summary: Reports to the deputy warden of programs. Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of an effective substance abuse program with emphasis placed on awareness, prevention, staff training and networking with community resources in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), and Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) directives. Essential Functions: * Develop and implement a system to promote the coordination and integration of the substance abuse prevention components with other facility programs. * Assess inmates with identified substance abuse problems; develop and implement a plan to modify or control the behavior by working with inmates, counselors, instructors and the mental health consultant, as appropriate. * Ensure the documentation of all assessments and plans are in inmates' medical records regarding substance abuse problems. * Provide ongoing comprehensive training for all staff members in the substance abuse area with specific goals toward staff education and awareness, staff skills in identification and reporting substance abuse problems, individual staff member counseling skills and general team building throughout the facility. * Assist in providing substance abuse related materials and information in the health education program and development of health services standing orders and facility operating procedures regarding substance abuse. * Conduct substance abuse and tobacco cessation classes, group educational, peer support and other prevention sessions for inmates/staff. * Encourage awareness of substance abuse issues throughout the facility. * Develop linkages with community resources for substance abuse services. * Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. * Maintain accountability of inmates and property; adhere to safety practices. It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management. Education and Experience Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, criminology or related field required and where applicable, must be a licensed substance abuse counselor in the state of Mississippi * Two (2) years of substance abuse treatment experience preferred * Directly related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements if approved by management * Valid driver's license in the state of Mississippi with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
