JOB DESCRIPTION: Pell City Schools SBMHC Therapist
This Master's Level therapist will be serving the Pell City School System with offices to be located at Pell City Board of Education. This therapist will provide assessment, individual therapy and group therapy, conflict resolution and other mental health services to identified students in Pell City Schools (7
th
- 12
th
grade) with severe emotional and/or behavioral problems that are interfering with their functioning at school and/or home. This therapist will also provide mental health care coordination for the Pell City School System.
Supervised By: St. Clair County Mental Health Coordinator
Division: Children's Services
Normal Working Hours/Days: Monday-Friday 8-5 with flexibility to meet client/family need.
Primary Job Functions
Responsible for interviewing, evaluating and assessing for mental health and other appropriate needs of children/families.
Responsible for properly assessing the unmet needs of the target population and devising an individualized service plan for each client.
Collaborates closely with the staff of the Pell City School System, as well as other community resources, in order to provide or access appropriate services to meet the needs of the target population (mental health services, school/special education service, etc.)
Responsible for individual group and family therapy with emphasis on behavior modification, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Strategic Family Therapy, parent education and other therapeutic approaches as appropriate to treatment needs.
Provides accurate documentation of charts on a daily basis in an electronic medical record, including clinical assessments, case plans, treatment plans, referrals, data collections, case reviews and follow up tracking.
Responsible for providing and presenting clinical assessments and treatment goals at weekly staffings with supervisor.
Provides transportation to children and families when appropriate.
Performs other administrative duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in psychology, social work or counseling with an emphasis on clinical service for children and adolescents. Licensure preferred.
Two years' experience working with children/adolescents with a serious emotional disturbance and their families in a community setting with an emphasis on clinical services is preferred.
Valid Alabama driver's license and driving record acceptable to agency automobile insurance carrier for inclusion on agency policy. Suitable automobile to permit the required travel. Must show and maintain car insurance equal to or in excess of the State of Alabama standards for automobile insurance coverage.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the special needs and behavioral characteristics of children/adolescents with a serious emotional disturbance and their families.
Knowledge of psychotherapy principals and techniques.
Knowledge of psychotropic medications, including their uses and side effects.
Ability to perform individual, group and family therapy to include behavior modification, R.E.T., parent education and problem-solving skills.
Ability to make clinical decisions/recommendations in crisis situations regarding children/adolescents with a serious emotional disturbance and their families.
Ability to communicate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team to include Department of Human Resources, Juvenile Probation Office/ Family Court, School Staff, and other mental health professionals.
Demonstrate communication skills- both expressive and written.
Ability to organize and manage one's own activities with a minimum of direct supervision.
Ability to utilize technology to complete electronic medical records
Ability to work flexible hours due to the special needs of the target population and their families.
Participate on a rotation 24 hour on call roster.

About the Role:
As a Therapist within our Health Care Services team in Warrior, AL, you will play a pivotal role in supporting individuals and families through various mental health challenges. Your primary objective will be to provide compassionate, evidence-based therapeutic interventions that promote emotional well-being and resilience. You will work collaboratively with clients to assess their needs, develop personalized treatment plans, and facilitate individual and group therapy sessions. Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree or higher in Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or a related mental health field required.
Professional licensure is required. If not, must be qualified to make application for ALC, LPC, LMSW, LICSW, or LMFT licensure within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities:
Conduct a comprehensive Psychosocial Assessment.
Evaluate and integrate assessment findings from all disciplines and databases into a clinical summary.
Transform issues identified in the treatment focus of the clinical summary into treatment plans with specific goals, objectives and corresponding treatment interventions.
Clearly and legibly document the patient's clinical course of treatment, in the progress notes.
Manage and coordinate the patient's work on treatment objectives while keeping the patient, clinical team, payers, and referral sources involved and/or informed of the patient's progress or lack of progress as appropriate.
Formulate and document a discharge summary that summarizes significant findings, course and progress of the patient with regard to each identified clinical problem, course of treatment and the final assessment of patient's condition initially, during treatment and at discharge.
Integrate working knowledge of 12-Step Programs and Principles into the therapeutic process and treatment plan while maintaining a professional treatment focus.
Manage caseload, documentation requirements and treatment delivery responsibilities in a professional and acceptable manner.
Conduct individual counseling sessions appropriate for the treatment of the addictive disorders.
Conduct group therapy sessions appropriate for the treatment of addictive disorders.
Conduct specialty groups that are relevant to addiction treatment.
Perform conjoint family counseling, integrating a complete understanding of the underlying dynamics of codependency and the effects of addiction of families.
Conduct basic education lectures and presentations relevant to addiction treatment.

: As a Therapist with our Children and Adolescent Mobile Crisis Team, you will work with First Responders in mental health and substance use crisis that involve our younger population by providing therapeutic care and resources for the client and their families while assessing situations in an often-emergent situation. The incumbent will work with the therapeutic teams and community resources to establish treatment plans and goals while communicating the needs of individuals involved and supporting their assigned Co Therapist. This is a part-time weekend position working Saturdays and Sundays, either 7:00AM - 7:00PM or 7:00PM - 7:00AM.
What you'll be doing:
Conduct individual and/or family therapy with children and adolescent population ages three to eighteen.
Work with Program Manager and co-therapist to assist families as needed.
Provide Crisis Intervention for client and client's family when called.
Perform initial assessments, intakes and prepare documentation of such for client's Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Prepare with client a treatment plan to include goals.
Facilitate warm hand-off to Co Therapist and or Care Coordinator.
Conduct CANS Assessments.
Work closely with co-therapist, care coordinator & guardians regarding client's needs.
Participate in various meetings to include departmental, divisional, or other meetings as required.
Complete billing documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintain educational requirements regarding licensure Alabama Department of Mental Health standards.
Perform outreach in partnership with DHR.
Work 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends twice a month.
Complete other duties as assigned.
