The Behavioral Health Specialist organizes and implements behavioral health services to Senior CommUnity Care participants and families. Provides behavioral health assessments, individual and group counseling in formats appropriate to clinical populations served. Conducts assessments of clients' mental health and cognitive functioning and develops appropriate treatment plan. Collaborates as part of an interdisciplinary team and promotes professional working relationships with both internal and external customers. Represents Senior CommUnity Care PACE in community settings via formal presentations and community committees as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master's Degree from an accredited school of social work or counseling required. Be legally authorized, currently licensed, registered or certified if applicable in the state of employment. Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker required.
Experience: A minimum of one year's experience working with frail or elderly population required. Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team in a hospital, nursing home or community-based setting is preferable. Experience and training in bio-psychosocial assessments, dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, grief counseling, treatment of substance uses disorders and non-violent crisis intervention a plus. Experience with severe and persistent mental illnesses and personality disorders required.
Skills and Knowledge:
Experience with frail/chronically ill elderly people.
Ability to provide psychosocial assessment and individual, family and group counseling.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of the DSM5/ICD-10 required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Upon referral from Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) or Social Worker, performs in person initial assessments of Senior CommUnity Care participants to obtain a complete psychosocial history, which may include descriptions of cognitive status, social supports, family dynamics mental health and substance dependency and other issues and needs. Coordinates with the IDT to develop a comprehensive plan of care for each participant receiving behavioral health services. Reassesses participants as needed to assess progress in therapy. Keeps IDT apprised of changes and progress in treatment.
Functions as a consultant to the IDT. Attends IDT when necessary to present updates related to significant changes with participant status, education related to care planning for participants receiving behavioral health services, or in absence of the social worker.
Ensures that Social Workers are kept informed of behavioral health services offered to participants and coordinates care in conjunction with the Social Work Team.
Provides ongoing support, counsel, and education to participants and family regarding a variety of issues, including but not limited to: mental health disorders, coping strategies, grief and loss, the aging process, and treatment for behavioral health.
Presents recommendations to IDT for recommended services to support participants with mental health needs and psychiatry referrals. Supports Social Workers with coordination of care with psychiatry and external counseling services.
Supports participants with access to community support regarding mental health services, self-help and other resources related to behavioral health.
Follows all mandated reported guidelines regarding reporting of suspected abuse or neglect of an adult and coordinates with social worker as needed.
Acts as a resource to other team members, including nursing, transportation, day center and home care staff, and therapy staff regarding topics such as severe and persistent mental health diagnoses, dementia, difficult behaviors, and difficult personalities.
Completes and ensures completion of documentation of clinical service, in participant's medical records including initial assessments, re-assessments, counseling sessions, home visits and other significant events according to Senior CommUnity Care documentation requirements.
Assists participants and caregivers in filing grievances.
Advises on day center or other programming offered via Senior CommUnity Care to meet the behavioral health needs of participants and caregivers.
Acts within scope of his or her authority to practice.
Follow all Senior CommUnity Care policies and procedures and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety guidelines.
Protects privacy and maintains confidentiality of all company procedures, results and information about employees, participants, and families.
Maintains safe working environment. Follows Senior CommUnity Care Safety policies and procedures.
As appropriate, participates in and supports Quality Improvement Initiatives.
Participates in continuing education classes and any required staff and training meetings. Maintains professional affiliations and any required certifications.

Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking PRN Crisis Triage Specialists (CTS) to join our dedicated Crisis Services team. This is a great opportunity for professionals looking to pick up full 10-hour shifts on an as-needed basis. CTS team members play a vital role in maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment at our 24/7 Walk-In Crisis Clinic (WIC), conducting brief assessments (including CSSRS and Safe-T), supporting client placement into appropriate levels of care, and providing referrals and resources. Essential Functions:
Act as the first clinical contact for walk-in clients. Greet client and support completion of initial paperwork.
Assess the client using the CSSRS Safe-T criteria. Ask brief evaluation questions and consult with the Crisis Therapist for next steps.
In instances when the client qualifies for a full crisis assessment evaluation by the Crisis Therapist, provide referrals and/or resources, or assist in placement to the CSU or to other higher level of care options.
In instances when the client does not qualify for a full evaluation by the Crisis Therapist, the CTS will complete the client's treatment at the WIC by providing referrals and/or resources to client.
Maintain the flow and response to faxed in referrals from other community partners, including gathering faxed in referrals, passing referrals to available Crisis Therapists for timely review, and, when appropriate, responding to the outside partner for feedback after a determination of placement.
Monitor activity of all clients in the WIC, maintaining the calm atmosphere of the waiting area.
Develop and maintain a daily safe therapeutic environment and support other team members in the WIC.
Completes all necessary paperwork in a timely and comprehensive manner to establish accurate acute care clinical records. Keep all appropriate documentation for clinical accountability and reimbursement.
Engage in weekly individual, team, and group supervision as required by program manager. Engage in mandatory all-staff meetings for the full team of crisis services as required by the program manager.
Assist in immediate clinical response to clients including de-escalation, connection to medical help, and providing comfort items such as snacks, water, blankets, etc.
Participate in other clinical and administrative activities as appropriate.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in behavioral healthcare, human services, social work, or a related field is required.
Previous experience with community-based services and supports in the service area is required.
Previous experience working in office-based settings with vulnerable populations of diverse cultures and ethnicities.
Must possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain one within 30 days of hire.

Position Overview: Paragon Behavioral Health Connections is seeking a Master's Level Clinician for Substance Use Disorder Treatment to provide Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment services within our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). This role involves delivering treatment in accordance with ASAM Level 2.1 guidelines and providing both group and individual therapy sessions. Summary:
Under general supervision, the Behavioral Health Crisis Response Clinician responds with police or other Behavioral Health Crisis Response Team staff to 911 or police non-emergency line calls with a behavioral health component. The clinicians provide crisis intervention, assessment, de-escalation, and referral to services. They are part of the City of Boulder's Behavioral Health Crisis Response Team (BHCRT), which provides both co-response with Boulder Police Department and alternative response with other BHCRT staff. Clinicians co-respond on calls for service that involve more dynamic situations, while an alternative response can occur for lower acuity calls.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provides in-person response to situations involving behavioral health concerns or crisis in a variety of community settings via Boulder Police & Fire dispatch, including homes, businesses, street corners, parks, congregate living facilities, and shelters.
* Conducts clinical interventions, including mental status exams, suicide and risk assessments to address presenting crisis and determine if people in distress meet criteria for involuntary treatment. Prepares mental health holds and other legal documents as needed.
* Makes appropriate level of care decisions on scene and communicates, collaborates, and creates relationships with multiple collateral agencies, including schools, hospitals, family members and significant others to facilitate referrals for needed community-based services and treatment.
* Provides telephone or in person follow ups with community members in order to connect them to behavioral health care and other resources in the community.
* Participates in clinical supervision and team meetings according to team policies.
* Documents all contacts according to team policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Ability to communicate ideas clearly in written or spoken form, particularly as it applies to documentation, care coordination, and in crisis situations. Completes work in a timely and consistent manner in accordance with team policies.
* Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with the public and colleagues.
* Ability to demonstrate emotional regulation during responses to 911 calls that may involve highly distressed or antagonistic individuals and manage secondary trauma related to crisis work.
* Ability to demonstrate knowledge of major mental illness, personality disorders, neurocognitive disorders, complex trauma, intellectual/developmental disabilities, substance use disorders, suicide assessment, safety planning, crisis de-escalation, trauma informed care, harm reduction, criteria for involuntary behavioral health care according to Colorado statute, and impact of involuntary treatment.
* Ability to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and the records management systems used by the team.
* Ability to practice within applicable laws and ethics with a demonstrated skill in acting with integrity as a steward of public resources and as a professional working in the involuntary treatment system. Demonstrated skill in applying ethical principles to complex problems.
* Ability to support change with flexibility and grace.
* Ability to work effectively and efficiently as a member of a team.
* Knowledge of community resources and ability to make appropriate referrals in crisis situations.
* Skill in listening to concerns and ideas of colleagues and community members.
* Skill in making rapid, accurate diagnostic assessments, including some ability to distinguish between psychosis due to mental illness vs substance use.
* Valid Driver's License and ability to maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record. Must have a working motor vehicle.
* Meet and maintain the requirements of applicable federal, state, and organizational background checks, including the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) background check.
* Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Ability to communicate fluently in English and Spanish.
* Ability to demonstrate related behavioral health experience as a mobile crisis clinician, co-responder, crisis clinician doing level of care assessments, or other modality working with an acute population in a high intensity environment.
* Knowledge of and prior experience working and collaborating with EMS, police and/or fire personnel.
* Knowledge of and prior experience working with or in Boulder area behavioral health treatment systems and supportive services.
* Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) in addition to primary licensure.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
* Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology or related field.
* Two (2) years of experience in crisis intervention, suicide and risk assessment, verbal de-escalation, and differential diagnosis working with individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, substance use, and other at-risk populations.
* Licensed in Colorado, or ability to be licensed in Colorado within twelve (12) months of hire, as LPC, LAC, LMFT, LCSW or LP.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
* Physical & Mental Effort: Work requires visual and physical capabilities to work on computers, radios, and associated equipment on a regular basis, as well as the ability to work in and respond to dynamic crisis situations in novel community-based environments.
* Work Environment: Work is generally performed in both a traditional office environment and a community setting. Work requires ability to work closely with others, with frequent interruptions and background noise, under sometimes adversarial conditions including crises related to mental health and substance use disorders. BHCRT operates seven (7) days per week including evening hours. Will be trained on and use scene safety (defensive tactics) training tools to maintain physical safety amidst 911 emergencies (often in unpredictable environments). The city provides personal protective equipment for clinicians. Attendance at meetings outside of regular schedule may be required to perform the duties and responsibilities associated with position. Often works off site and in the community in a variety of environments including businesses, homes, emergency rooms, community partners, parks, greenways etc.
* Machines and Equipment Used: City vehicles are provided for program use. However, if multiple calls or meetings are in progress simultaneously and city vehicles are not available, clinicians will travel to the service site in their own vehicles and be reimbursed for mileage. Frequently uses standard office equipment including computers, telephones, and copy/fax machines as well as two-way radios.
