For clients with co-occurring mental illness, we provide integrated substance use and mental health services which treat both conditions as primary. Our residential facility serves up to 120 women (with capacity for up to 20 children under 5 years of age) seeking recovery from substance use disorders.
The primary responsibilities of the Mental Health Clinician include providing direct participant care in a manner that exemplifies HealthRIGHT 360's philosophy, goals, policies, mission and vision through the provision of confidential therapy and psychoeducational groups, conducting mental health and substance use disorder assessments and evaluations to identify behaviors and problems related to a participant's addiction and potential co-occurring disorders. S/he acts as a liaison between the agency and outside organizations, linking participants with the appropriate resources to meet their health, mental health and human service needs. They will demonstrate the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the participant's needs, document knowledge of participant's growth and progress, and demonstrate an understanding of the range of treatment needed by participants served. Key Responsibilities
Works as an active member and closely collaborates with internal and external team members.

Assist participants with substance abuse and behavioral needs as assigned which may include individual therapy, family and couple sessions, mental health assessment, evaluations, crisis intervention and group therapy, and psychoeducational groups.
Handle crisis interventions including when a participant may exhibit psychiatric symptoms that present a threat to the participant or others assessing situations for further needs.
Participates in team meetings to provide information and make recommendations for treatment, discharge planning, and participant management.
Collaborates with each caseload participant and other available internal and external resources to develop/maintain treatment plans, transition plans, progress notes and appropriate updates in support of the health and recovery needs of the participant.
Maintain documentation in compliance with agency, HIPAA, 42CFR, and funder standards.
Properly documents all services provided and completes admission and discharge paperwork/process and required agency assessments in timely manner and ensure that the golden thread is documented throughout the chart.
Ensure that all clinical documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner, and entered into the various electronic systems.
Arrange work schedule in accordance with agency's needs which may include weekends, overnights and holidays.
Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required:
Must be a MSW, MFT or Psychologist from a regionally accredited graduate program in the field of psychology or counseling psychology. Masters level candidates must be registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences and possess a valid registration number.
Minimum of two years of experience in a substance abuse treatment or community mental health setting.
Experience in working with people with co-occurring disorders.

INTRODUCTION:
Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center's Conditional Release Program (CONREP) is seeking to fulfill the role of Senior Forensic Clinician in its San Diego County location. This forensic outpatient program provides court and parole mandated treatment and supervision to individuals committed as Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, Offender with a Mental Health Disorder, or Incompetent to Stand Trial.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Senior Forensic Clinician must be fully licensed with the State of California by either the Board of Behavioral Sciences or the Board of Psychology.The Senior Forensic Clinician coordinates the implementation of a forensic treatment and supervision plan within the interdisciplinary team. The responsibilities of the position include providing required core services such as individual and group treatment, collateral contacts, crisis intervention, annual staffing logistics, and case management services to an adult forensic population. The Senior Forensic Clinician also provides the court with 90-Day Progress Reports, Annual Review Reports, Restoration to Sanity Reports, and Revocation of Outpatient Status Reports as indicated. The position also involves collaborating with attorneys and providing expert witness and material witness testimony as needed. This position involves scoring risks assessments such as the HCR-20 and PCL-R/SV, and incorporating the results of these assessments, as well as those of other psychological assessments, into treatment and supervision planning. The Senior Forensic Clinician also participates in all routine and emergent team meetings. Although the Senior Forensic Clinician operates more autonomously than other Forensic Clinicians, they continue to participate in supervision, albeit with less oversight and as a more seasoned practitioner in the group supervision setting.The Senior Forensic Clinician may also provide clinical supervision to interns and practicum students as assigned.The Senior Forensic Clinician also assists with any other duties or projects as indicated by the Program Director or Program Coordinator.
ESSENTIALS DUTIES
Provides core services to an assigned caseload, including individual, group, and, as indicated, family treatment in accordance with level of care requirements.
Provides collaterals and case management services in accordance with level of care requirements.
Assesses client's risk of violence using risk assessment measures and incorporates these findings into decision making and treatment/supervision plans.
Demonstrates an understanding of the Penal Codes that guide the services provided in CONREP and incorporates that understanding into decision making.
Demonstrates sound judgment in making clinical and supervision decisions, incorporating feedback, guidance, theory, and experience aimed at maintaining community safety.
Implements effective and relevant clinical interventions when delivering clinical care.
Conducts a thorough review of clients' records and maintains a working understanding of client's risk factors and course of treatment.

Generates an annual staffing report and presents the case at assigned clients' annual staffing, integrating feedback into case conceptualization.
Generates all required 90-Day and Annual Progress Reports in a timely manner and in line with the program's guidelines and expectations for each report.
Generates terms and conditions for each assigned client, in accordance with CONREP guidelines, annually and more often, as indicated.
Generates annual and ongoing documentation in a timely, accurate, and comprehensive manner (e.g. Individual Risk Profile, Release of Information, Client Schedule).
Provides timely, accurate, comprehensive and well written documentation of all services rendered.
Provides ongoing, clear, and timely updates, verbally and in writing, to relevant team members regarding clients' treatment and supervision plan, as well as any changes in clients' functioning.
Completes and submits all required paperwork and updates logs in accordance with program guidelines.
Works collaboratively with all members of the treatment team to facilitate excellent treatment and supervision for clients.
Participates in all relevant in-service training meetings as scheduled.
Productively participates in weekly individual and group supervision, providing guidance to students in training.
Provides sound clinical supervision to intern and practicum students in accordance with all applicable supervision guidelines.
Seeks consultation in addressing performance issues with supervisees and follows guidance in implementing interventions aimed at enhancing the supervisee's performance.
Maintains a professional stance and relationship with all supervisees.

Minimum Education Required:
Graduate education/training in f forensic mental health, law, psychology, and/or criminal justice.

A doctoral degree in Psychology or related area from an accredited university.
Doctoral level training in the field of Forensic Psychology.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience Required:
Clinical experience in provision of individual and group treatment with individuals with severe mental illnesses.
Clinical treatment of both acute and chronic mentally ill population in a forensic setting.
Assessment of risk of violence.
Integration of treatment and supervision in clinical work.
Preparation of written client evaluations and progress reports.
